Ideamarketers is offering paid advertising in category of your choice

Ideamarketers is offering paid advertising in category of your choice. It's not ezinearticles but they do get some pretty good traffic to their site. They serve up between 9-10 million page views per month to approximately 600,000 unique visitors per month. The bulk of this traffic is going to their home page, articles, and press release pages.

"Idea Ads." You load your title, link, and description
into a category of your choice. Then your ad appears on every
article/press release in that category. This means your ad/link
could appear on hundreds, even thousands of targeted pages.

I am going to try them out it looks like a cheap alternative to more expensive ppc etc.. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up if they are looking for some affordable advertising that is pretty targeted and may covert well.

What do you think?

Ideamarketers has always had this function. Not anything new. I tried it about about a year back and it didn't bring the greatest results overall, but was worth the try.

Thanks for passing this along, EntrepreneurJay!

Actually this is a new function and a new option we're offering. What we used to have were category ads that ran for $97 flat-fee per month. You had no control over the ad once it was placed, and you didn't have any built-in statistics. With this system, you are in control. You set your own pricing, you can adjust the ad mid-stream if you want. You also see how many times the ad has been shown and how many people have clicked through to your site.

At this point, you could feasibly get an ad on all articles/press releases within a category for as little as $1/week. Of course it's a live bidding system so it just depends on what people are willing to pay.

We've also recently radically redesigned/reorganized our site so that it is simpler, easier to navigate and cleaner. The cleaner look is making the response rates better on the ads. Just to give you an idea of some stats. I placed a test ad on the Book Publishing category.

The ad was placed on July 8th with a $6 bid per week. So it's run for 2 weeks so far with an expenditure of $12 total. It's been shown 2234 times and clicked on 66 times. So that's a click-through rate of 2.9%. And the price per click is around 18 cents/click.

I placed a second one as well with a $5 bid. It's been shown the same number of times, with 60 click-through's. So $10 has been spent ($5 x 2 weeks) to get 60 clicks so that's 16.6 cents/click.

Of course, results do depend upon how well you've crafted your ad, how many articles are in a given category (Book Publishing isn't a big category) and where the ad falls in the bid line-up.
