Newbie: Looking to Move On from Free Wordpress

So my friend just pointed me out to this site and I don't even know where to begin here, so I figured I'd just create a thread.

Last year, I started a free blog in Wordpress and I'm looking to move to a normal host/server. I upgraded to my own domain a couple months after starting the free site, but that's the only upgrade I've done so far.

So my question is, where should I go to host my site and what software should I use to run the site?

Also, is there any realistic chance of making any money (Even if it's like 20 dollars/month)? I average around 30 pageviews a day and I'm in a very specific niche (Penn State football players in Pro leagues).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you want to see the site, it's psuinthenfl.com.

Check out hostgator. There are many other mentions of hosting companies for wp blogs, just do a search and enjoy the read.

Most of the larger hosting services have "one click" wordpress installers, if your forward thinking you might at least get an account with unlimited domains. Some hosts make it difficult to transfer away the domain name they throw in with a package.

Sounds like you would need more traffic to hit that $20, particularly if you are just earning a 20% commission on t-shirts and mugs.

There are services out there that can fulfill orders for your own custom t-shirt designs.

How do you go about setting up those types of ad deals? Do you go directly to the retailers or is there some kind of middleman service?

For someone just starting out, I'd go with Wordpress for the site platform and Hostgator. I personally use both and can't complain.

    Cheers
