I have been in the online world for more than a year. I wrote over 300 articles at hubpages and was earning about $40/month till January this year. But the earnings plunged to as low as $5/month after Panda.

I gave up on Hubpages and decided to start my own websites. I did some keyword research and started 7 websites. I am working on my websites which are between 1 week-2 months old. I am facing two issues. I cannot outsource stuff due to finances and I can only produce between 2-4 articles/day. With each keyword requiring multiple backlinks I am getting no traffic to my site at this point. Do I really stand any chance to succeed. What's the best advice you can give? I really need to see some success in the next 3-4 months.

you can succeed but you need to put in the work. Build a few websites and work on content and keywords and in the long run, it will be profitable.

Yes there is no magic pill. If you can't afford to outsource the articles then I'm afrais you'll have to write them yourself. Just stick with it and eventually you'll start making money. Once that happens perhaps you can afford to begin outsourcing and then scale up your operation. Good luck to you!

I am often faced with this same question.

I always look at it in three ways:

        1. work as hard as you can, for as long as you can
        2. work hard, but supplement your income with other small part-time work
        3. step back from it for a while, take a contract job, and then come back to it when you are refreshed.

Currently I am working on #1, and it sounds like you are too.

        My favorite personal mantra is:

"Everything I have is because of the action I took".

There is no disgrace if you have to supplement your income with outside financial sources until you make it.

So keep trying, and good luck will be on your side.

Ask if articles are your best approach. Other ways to generate
traffic to affiliate products include videos, audios, reviews,
    press releases, slideshows, interviews, etc.

You basically want to create a lot of content discussing the
problem, and then soft-sell your target affiliate product as a
    solution to that problem.

Incorporate a lot of proof into your content.

I'm assuming that your efforts are primarily to sell affiliate
    products???

Think outsourcing is important but since that is out of the equation, you will really need to put in the work. If you cannot write a lot of articles, maybe you can try other platforms of building links or use softwares to help you spread your website around the web?

I'm going to share with you a little quote that was said to me by my martial arts instructor years ago that's been sticking with me through my marketing ideas. Hi Sid,

I found myself asking the same question earlier today. Hang in there. Many of us are in the same boat, just will be a matter of keeping on and not quitting and then continuing to evaluate and adjust what's not working. Of course you have to give it time to work and therein lies the rub. How do you determine when to move on and when to keep at the same thing?

I think a good mentor or coach would probably help - if you can find someone who's honest and that you can trust to truly help you. Barring that, I would diversify my efforts until you can narrow down which variable is going to make the difference - traffic, offer/conversion, subject-matter, etc. Good luck to you. And stay surrounded by positive encouragement!

Out of all the sites that you're working on pick one and focus all your energy into that. You probably want to pick the one where you see the most potential. The problem with working on 5 or 10 sites at a time without outsourcing is that your results will come very slowly and you are likely to throw in the towel by then. So, go with your best one.

Leverage the content you write. Make sure that it's unique content you're posting on your site. Use the site content and turn it into articles for directories, videos, press releases where possible. Also, use forum and blog commenting and any other methods of generating backlinks that you might be using currently.

You will see results in increasing traffic. How you convert depends on the content of the site.

    Good Luck
    SV

I think a better question is to ask (yourself) how can I succeed? However, search engine stuff is good, but the people that make the most money I know know have lists... build lists.. maybe shift the focus that way... play a little different game. Just a thought.

As I personally believe, it's difficult to handle 7 websites in same time if you do not outsource your works.

    My best advices is,

Select one site and work with it until the site starts generating some decent revenues. Thereafter, move to next site.

  • It is quite difficult in starting to make some good income. However, it is your mind and ask yourself where I am unique from millions of other people offering the same idea? It is more on how you represent yourself.

Another approach would be "Do It Yourself". When you are working on websites, you need to put in a lot of effort like 9 to 5 job. You have to create content, do SEO, and build email lists.

It's fine to register domain names while they are still available, but you should hold off on hosting until you have enough content prepared. That way you're up and running, and can make improvements while you're also adding content.

With 7 websites, I'd work overtime to get a basic. minimum content on all of them, and add two or three blog post or pages to each of them every week. BUT - and this is crucial from my perspective - focus on developing only website at a time. My reasoning is that this way you'll have a trickle of traffic to all 7 and the sooner you get one website fully decked out the sooner it will be making income. Rinse and repeat for the other 6.

Trying to develop all 7 at the same time does more than delay income though; assume each one is going to take a month - my way you'll have 6 months of income from the first website, five months from the second, etc; the other way, you won't have any income until they're finished. Do thee math! My way 21 website-months of income by the time the last one is finished; otherwise, precisely zero income. Huge difference, don't you agree?

Of course you can be successful on that, just work hard for it and never give up. If finances are one of your problems, then I would also go Jaymark that you will have written those articles yourself. This will not only saves you money, but will make further make your site more personalize as the articles are of your writings. And most importantly, be patient in your work since you are working with 7 websites, and that requires your time to make it work.

I agree with the thoughts of many others above, I've not even come close to cracking it but dividing your attention across 7 sites has to be affecting the quality of the content you're providing.

Concentrate on one or two of your strongest areas and get those profitable first before dividing your attention.

Also, make sure you are extremely organized and know what roadblocks are going to come up and cause you problems, i'm a big fan of the Goldratt stuff in helping figure out what I need to do in my projects.

If possible, find something else to earn some money and save as much of it as you can.

When you have a few hundred together, go out and find some quality coaching. You don't have to outsource in the beginning, but you do have to know what you're doing, and part of that is finding your one thing and focusing on that one thing to the exclusion of everything else until you know for sure whether you can make it work or not.

Only after you are making money with it, or after you have proven to yourself that you can't (by knowing that you have done everything reasonably possible) should you go on to the next thing.

Like some others have said, try to put some focus on one or two sites specifically. By putting more effort into them, you can (ideally) make money off them sooner. And if you can make money sooner, then you can begin putting money towards outsourcing.

    Hello friend,

    I completely understand your situation.

It sounds to me like you are a lean mean article machine! have you ever thought about free lancing article writing?

Its one of the hottest things people are looking to pay for nowadays.

40$ per month is not enough to wipe your a$$ (pardon my french).

I really think you should look for other ways to make side money and keep on focusing on getting your sites ranked.

As other have said here there are tons of ways to rank on google and you should absolutely read some of Craig Mako's WSO's which cost 10-20$ each and are amazing content.

Keep going and don't give up! I almost gave up a million times... If its your dream you owe it to yourself.

    Cheers!

    Sid,

I started IM like some 6 months back. I did the same what you are doing now. But Concentrated on 2 sites, created contents myself, built links myself and when they made some money, I outsourced content writing and got some tools to create links. I can see that the income is scaling up in proportion to my efforts. I have around 20 sites now.

I have myself gone throught this entire cycle. If you need any help/Idea with something drop me a mail @ arjun.tck(at)gmail.com. I will be really happy to help you with avoinding the mistakes that I did.

I have 6 sites I want to launch. I am focusing on my offline work as it pays the bills and launching 1 site and getting it up and running. I plan on continuing offline and letting each site funnel money into the next site. So as site A turns a profit, that profit goes into outsourcing and marketing for site B and then so forth for site C and D and etc. That way you can exponentially decrease the amount of time and resources it takes to get the next site going.
