Weird Clickbank Commissions?

I've been meaning to ask this for a while. As a Clickbank affiliate, I am seeing some unusual commission amounts. For example, I was getting commissions of a little over $23 on one product, and now I'm seeing commissions for the same product of $20 and some change. It's a $3.31 cent difference on the commission amount. The merchant hasn't changed the price on the sales page---so why am I getting $3 less than previously?

This is the 2nd product that this has happened for. I'm thinking it might have something to do with Clickbank's "allowance/with-holding"?? I don't understand why the SAME product will show a slightly different commission amount (varies from $1-3 difference), depending on when it was purchased. If it was purchased 3 weeks ago, it shows the higher amount. Since then, all commissions are showing the lower amount.

Any ideas why?

Are the sales with a lower commission in Europe? If so it will be to do with the VAT.

Thanks Burtie; I hadn't thought of that. Unfortunately, I have no way of knowing whether the sales are from Europe. I'm an affiliate for this product, so I only see the customer's name and email address. I have no access to the customer's billing address. Maybe the answer is VAT, but all of the sales have been for the lower amount since 3 weeks ago. So, I have a hard time imagining that ALL of the sales are from Europe.

I just checked the Clickbank marketplace and I noticed that the dollar amount per sale is listed as $1 lower than it was 3 weeks ago. Is the dollar-amount-per-sale (as shown in the CB Marketplace) affected by returns? For example, if a merchant has returns, I wonder whether the dollar-per-sale value (as shown in the CB Marketplace) is lowered.

It can't be that: VAT doesn't get included in a commission payment.

An affiliate gets X% of the product price but the customer pays the product price plus VAT.

          1. Is it the same item ? See Item number in your Transaction report
          2. Has commission rate changed ? Go to Marketplace and Create hoplink

          Country and state are shown.

Thanks Harvey. You nailed it! When I click on "Create Hoplink," it shows that the commission rate is now 60%. However in the Marketplace, the commission shows as 69%. Learned something new today. Apparently, Clickbank updates the "Create hoplink" screen more frequently than they do for the marketplace data.

As far as the merchant goes...wow, decreasing affiliate commissions? By nine percent? This is the first time I've seen this... Looks like I need to find another merchant to promote (or better yet, create a competing product).

          I stand corrected.

Their fees increase between approx. 13% and 22% for purchases made in the E.U.

          The sneaky *******s.

If the product creator reduces the commission, or the price, you wont see that reflected in CB until at least a week later

also - YES - the dollar amount per sale reflects returns. If the refund rate goes up, the $ amount per slae goes down - but it takes a few weeks for this to figure in
