Dunkin Donuts HUGE Advert!! Ahha Moment

So my parents went to dunkin donuts and brought me back some type of mango or orange iced drink. On the drink it had the captan America movie logo and it said when it was coming out in theaters!

To myself I was thinking...
The demographics that this bottle targets is HUGE! I'm pretty sure they sold over 10,000,000 of those bottles in a single day if not more because of how big they are.

My ahha moment was this (future WSO??). What if we went to local businesses and bought 1,000 cups for them. 1,000 plastic cups at 50 cents each and we said to give it to every customer that looked as if they were between the ages of 18 and 29?*

I though that was a great idea. You could also ask if they are offering advertisemtn on any of the cups or anything in there resturant.

You can use disposable place mats, cups, cup holster (what ever goes on the bottom of the cup to not leave a ring) and even the little menus.

This is just a theory but I'm sure someone can think of a clever way to make money with this and promoting a CPA offer

    Sounds like a plan!

I'll give it a try and approach the local fast food joint to see if they're able to do it and how much it would cost

Yea it's a theory but go for it. I myself will contact a local fast food branch.

DreamWorks Animation has had a long-standing arrangement with McDonald's, which will promote "Kung Fu Panda: The Kaboom of Doom" this summer, as will computer and chip makers HP and Intel, ongoing partners for the toon studio. This is the sixth year McDonald's is creating Happy Meals for a DreamWorks toon.
Interesting article on this cross promotion -

Not a new idea, but a great twist. What if you put your website or fan page on the cup and promote an affiliate product from the cup? At dunkin donuts, maybe you have a gym membership affiliate link? Just brainstorming.
Why would a donut shop allow you to advertise another business on their cups? If you owned a donut shop would you use cups advertising a gym? I wouldn't.

Brainstorming is good - but always remember to ask "what's in it for them"? Franchises usually advertise their own business on the cups and franchise holders are often bound to an agreement to use only cups, etc sold by the company granting the franchise.

I've seen small local restaurants use paper placements provided free for them by a small ad company that sells adspace and prints the ads on the placements. That's been some years ago, though, and haven't seen one of those recently.

This kind of thing is still around, but you have to visit the local mom and pop restaurants to find it.

Not a bad idea but you will probably have to stick to small local chains. I'm sure the McD's, BK's, etc of the world don't give local managment the option to put anything on their cups with their OK.

Of course.... if I could put a link to a site on EVERY cup McD's hands out....

People have been doing this kind of thing for a long time. Look at all the t-shirts, sweatbands, coffee mugs and key rings out there. You just have to get creative with what you want to promote. Good way to bring in some extra moolah.

A weight loss CPA at a place where you eat fried, glazed, chocolate goodness...lol I find that ironic. But hey...it's worth a shot if you have the cash to spend, and the clients to support

Of course he's got the cash to spend. He made $30,000 in the stock market, remember?

Marketing ideas are everywhere. I used to wonder why so-and-so didn't do this or that kind of promotion; then I found out: The conversion rates are extremely low. Physical media doesn't convert well because it requires the prospect to type-in instead of simply clicking.

That said, a cup probably converts better than a billboard, which is probably the all-time-worst idea I've ever heard for advertising a web-only business. (What, you think they'll remember your URL? Or pull over and take a picture of the billboard? Or write it down?)

(I can hardly wait for the "Hey, you could put QR codes on the cups" suggestion to come up -- it's already being done, to hilarious effect.)

I'm sure that the company that you'd use to imprint your clients' logos and/or adverts on their cups would very much appreciate your business.

I think Don Alm talked about selling ads and giving placemats to restaurants (which would be the squares on the placements). Pharmaceutical companies are always giving items to clinics for distribution to patients.

I saw this recently when I came back home from school. The local hot dog stand had their tables topped with a vinyl print add, it looked really nice, gives the customer something to do, and talk about while they are waiting. Their had to be 20 spots on each table.

He even integrated some of pictures of his headlines highlighting the stores dogs over the past 20 years.

      Super Excellent Idea I think

True, but you might want to ask yourself the last time you accepted a freebie then followed through on the offer. For me, it's approximately...never.

I had to laugh when some woman promoting her housing assistance program left stacks of logo'd post-it notes in our building lobby. Those went fast.

I dunno, how many people went to see captain america because of this promotion? Probably not many, and if they did they were already planning on seeing it and said "oh yeah" What can you promote that people will say "oh yeah , i meant to do that" and follow through?

LOL. YOU might be immune to a certain marketing tactic, but the indipsutable evidence is the fact that it still goes on/has gone on forever.

Also, marketing is very subliminal. You might not always be aware of using/wanting/getting a product/service that you saw "somewhere" but don't really know for certain where you first heard of it or why you wanted that particular thing.
