Whats the best way to learn?

What is the best way to learn affiliate marketing? Ive tried books which were almost not helpful at all and ive tried online courses which were slightly helpful. Are there any blogs you know of that are exceptionally good for learning affiliate marketing?

From my own experience, the best way to learn is by, quite literally doing it!

Decide the angle you wish to pursue: ClickBank, Amazon, Adsense, etc., etc., then do some keyword research for the niche you wish to promote, and buy a domain name, if at all possible containing your main keyword / keyphrase.

Buy hosting (I strongly recommend HostGator), and set up a WordPress blog.

From here on in, your learning process begins in earnest. Write, publish, link, track your results, become a credible "expert" in your chosen niche. Don't fall into the trap of perpetually buying new books, guides etc. Pick a plan and go with it. You won't become a millionaire overnight, or even next year, but you will learn and become much wiser as your knowledge and experience grows.

    Good luck

Thanks Annie, Im actually working on setting up my second site right now the exact way you said hostgator/wordpress/amazon. my first got a pretty good amount of traffic and would have been great if i had kept linkbuilding with it but the product was a $900 gaming laptop and i know little about computer hardware and pc gaming so my review conveyed that i didnt know what i was talking about and my conversion rates were horrible. the site im working on now is for gps systems and it looks like it will do significantly better but i cant spend ALL my time linkbuilding and working on the site,.. theres only so much i can do with it. And in the meantime id like to learn more about affiliate marketing

      Annie said it best...

      the best teacher is experience.

However, I understand your desire to fill your head
with as much information as you can about affiliate
marketing - I was the same way.

One of the WORST ways to learn about this business
      is from blogs and forums.

      Why?

It's a LOT of information to sift and sort through, &
not all of it is worth listening to. But, that's hard to
tell sometimes because everybody seems to know
      everything about every topic.

It's dangerous because you can take advice that'll
make you worse off than before, or avoid taking ad
-vice that could make you a good deal of money b/c
      popular opinion votes against it.

It's the price you pay for FREE information.

Therefore, the way I get anything done is from paid
      information.

It's a shortcut to getting what YOU want right now
so it's easier to take action.

Not all paid information is good, but it certainly beats
searching blogs and forums looking for gems.

This is how I best learn information and it's made me
a lot of money because it keeps me focused.

But there is no *best* way to learn anything.

      ...just taking action.

You are literally looking at one of the better resources right here. Do an Advanced search right here on the Warrior Forum for "affiliate marketing".

The biggest challenge for most affiliate marketers is getting qualified visitors to an offer,
so a lot of your study should focus on traffic generation, link building and SEO.

Everyone has a preference, but they all fall under 4 categories: VARK, visual, aural, reading/writing, or kinesthetic. Something worth keeping in mind when you're working on your sale funnel because your audience will be all over the board on those same 4 preferences.

If you don't want to sift through the tons of free information on here and not sure which paid course/wso to consider for your information, let me suggest that you start off by focusing on only the 5 star posts on here...If you click on the rating button at the top of the forum, you will see only the 5 star posts. These are great starting points for any newbie....Many of them are better than the bulk of wso's out there!

Read around on the forums, read the seomoz blog maybe, and then start doing it. Fail a bunch of times, do something successful once, then replicate it and do it again 10x.
