Hello. I am a newbie to internet marketing and was pointed here.
I have lots of questions that I can see are answered around here but can't seem to find the answer to a basic question...

Since it does usually take money to make money, how much would someone expect to spend to start an internet marketing business?

Lets say we are talking about marketing PLR material. I know that purchasing material is relatively inexpensive but how much would, or do, YOU spend on a monthly basis promoting your "goods?"

A couple dollars and you are in business.

You need an autoresponder account: $19 per month.
And then maybe a domain name or 2: about $10 a pop
And then the hosting: About $10 per month (or less).

You don't need any. Ok, maybe domain+hosting but you can get enough for those in Microworkers.

You just need to know what you're doing.

Ok, I tried to PM this but am not eligible for PM's.
This is the first that I have heard of an Autoresponder Account for this business concept. What it is, and why would I need it for this type of business?
If anyone has the time to answer, I'd be appreciative.

      Thanks

Autoresponder - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Domain-names cost almost nothing (prices from $1). Hosting costs almost nothing (there's even some free hosting that's pretty good), but an autoresponder's something you need for most business models involving internet marketing, and in the opinions of some of us here it's a big mistake to use a free one: the long-term consequences are difficult, complicated, and very hard to envisage when you're starting out and know very little. This is one of the few things that it really is very worthwhile trying to get right, right at the outset, because mistakes in this department can sometimes be surprisingly difficult to correct, even with money. Allow about $20 per month for this, exactly as advised above.

Business models vary greatly, but to a great extent, you can substitute work for money, if you want to (and there are other benefits from doing things like that, too). I started off, for about $100 or not much more, a business from which I was making a good, full-time living after a few months' hard work.

An autoresponder is good.... if you're selling products (as an affiliate or owner)

But if you are in the service industry, I don't know if its necessary.

For example you can sell your services as a writer, backlinker, videographer, graphic designer, website designer, programmer, etc.

In that case, you really don't need any money to get started. At most, maybe $20 to place an ad in the Warriors for Hire section

Since you're talking about PLR material. You'll need to get some good quality PLR. You'll also need hosting, domain and an autoresponder. You can start with a .info for $1 if you wish to cut costs. The hosting and autoresponder for the first month can also be bought for $1.

As far as modifying the PLR content, if you're gonna put in all the work it's going to cost you nothing but your time. If you outsource this it depends on the level of modifications you get into.
