We are all saddened of what had happen in Norway, and I could not really understand why people would do something like that to innocent people. The number of casualties was I think 84 when I checked on the news.
As for those spammers and opportunists, they might want to consider the event as not the time to use it to make money since what has happened is not the scene or moment to make money out of it. But like they say, a people's loss is another people's gain. But they should not make such events such as what happen, as a source of earning some good money.

Agreed, It says shame on you Internet Marketers, not spammers. It is, indeed, despicable to take advantage of a tragic situation, but at the same time, don't accuse us all of being spammers and scammers.

Geez, give the guy a break. English isn't even his first language so don't be so quick to take offense.

I'm personally horrified that such a civilized and peaceful country as Norway could be attacked in this way, and I agree that people who are exploiting the tragedy are vile.

Your thinking about "Black Hat" marketers. Those folks don't give a flip about anything or anyone unless it means higher numbers in their Paypal account. This forum is a White Hat hang out. So generally speaking folks around here don't engage in those sorts of shenanigans.

I don't know about "marketers" on facebook and twitter - but THIS marketer has been watching the news today with great sympathy for people in Norway.

I have nothing but contempt for anyone who would be trying to profit from this tragedy.

In truth, he isn't talking about "marketers" at all. He's talking about "profiteers", those who milk a crisis or tragedy for profit.

When the karma wheel spins on those scumbags, it's definitely going to hurt.

I know some black hatters, spammers and even some real jerks that wouldn't use those types of tactics.

One of the things I have noticed about those that label ... it is usually only spam if they are not doing it themselves.

Trying to profit off of the misfortune of others in any situation doesn't make you a black hatter or spammer .. it just makes you an insensitive d!ck that doesn't deserve to breath the same air as those that find compassion in these instances.

That actually happens on Twitter every time a hash tag goes nuts. The spammers crawl out of the woodwork like cock roaches.

So sorry about the situation there. Truly tragic, but most of the people I know on this forum, would never do that. Many here are a very kind bunch of people who jump in to help out in tragedies and hardship whenever they can.

I am sad about events in your country and understand what you are trying to say. While marketers do this thing all the time, it doesn't mean it is right.

The earlier posters were sympathetic but offended by your language.

However, I was happy to see the tone of the thread change when others responded with empathy.

Let's allow our brothers and sisters in Norway to grieve and find peace in this senseless killing.

Those who choose to attempt to profit from an awful event such as the tragedy in Norway today are not Internet Marketers. They are spammers and opportunists, who place their own personal gain above anything else, including decency.

I'm sure I speak for the majority, if not all, members of this community in saying that I was horrified and saddened by today's news from Oslo and would never even consider exploiting such a barbaric act for any marketing campaign. And I also despise those who would.

That being said, how is the news media any better? They make their money off selling advertising that's priced based on the number of eyeballs.

There's a reason the old saying goes in the newspaper business, "Lead with blood."

It sells.

Thank you for all the support! There are now 84 registered deaths on Utøya and they are still searching the water around the island. 7 was killed by the Oslo bomb.

The terrorist (at least on Utøya, but probably also Oslo) was a right-wing norwegian 32 year old male.

I made the original post to help some people reconsider their marketing tactics, and express my feelings towards these methods, and not to address internet marketers in general.

That is a part of IM - for the few with absolutely no scruples at all.. He's not saying it = Warrior Forum or members here, and he isn't saying its all members here either.

As others have said, its black hat IM: shady and morally loathsome. But that is IM for those who choose to profit by exploiting the tragedies of others through internet marketing.

I do IM but I don't condone that kind of IM. That is the behaviour of cockroaches with no moral compass and no concept of simple decency.
