Google News Sites...Are They Worth It?

I knew something was up when several clients had asked me to write news articles for their sites. Google News sites they turned out to be.

All did well except one due to a technical problem he's fixing.

Got some neat WSOs from some Warriors here about Google News and how to make sites etc.

I spent many years in mainstream news and writing articles is easy. Setting up the Google News sites is something I need to study further so I'm asking are they worth it?

Who has the best tutorials? Who has the best success stories?

I don't know whether they're worth it or not, but from what I understand it has gotten much harder to get them approved by G.

There was rash of flimsy news sites all trying to get Google News Site approval, and it seems to have made the chances of approval more difficult....that's what I've heard/read.

Bruce is quite right. Due to a large amount of spam news sites hitting Google and the subsequent cleansing out of thousands of spam news sites, it is now a lot tougher to get in. If you do get in, it is well worth it, but you do have to measure the risk of building one and not getting in.

I'm also asking because I have an army of retired award winning print journalists who could use the extra income if Google News sites earn money. Even some younger students too.

I'll see how it goes along as I study up. I'm sure there are spammer sites as there are low-brow exploiters whenever anything comes along. It's good that Google is cracking down.

You go to Google and in the top nav bar, click on News. Those sites in there are all approved Google News sites.

I have a back door way to get into Google News, that doesn't require Google to approve the site.

The only trend for this back door I see is, it has to be a paid TLD, notice I didn't say it has to be a self hosted site.

Spend some time on Google News & you'll see what I'm talking about. I won't say what it is here because everyone & their brother would be selling the back door as a WSO, which would have Google shutting it down.

Also it requires zero SEO (no backlinks, etc...), since the only traffic I care about is G News, & not the SERPs.

I can see there's some resistance to talking about Google News sites. It shows me either they're good to get or a pain or already saturated.

I don't think it's possible to saturate Google News.

The site with the most content spread out over a 24 hour period wins!

      Example, site A & B:

Site A publishes 4 new Google News pages per 24 hours.

Site B publishes 12 new Google News pages per 24 hours.

Site B will push site A content to the bottom of Google News, as long as all pages are on the same subject.

A rare case of "More is better". Assumes both sites follow the G News TOS.
