Does anyone know how to edit the Wordpress admin contextual help menu(s)?

But what PHP file holds the actual text of the help menu. I don't need to add to it, I need to edit it.

Are you referring to the drop down field in the top right of the admin panel? You want to edit the text in that field?

They (the texts) are in about 50-something files... inserted by the function
add_contextual_help

Search for that in the whole package and you will find them.

Not that I know of. You have two choices. 1 - ask again when you need to locate another section. 2 - open every file and search for the text string "add_contextual_help". When you find it search through the following lines of code and try and find the text that is in the menu you are looking to edit. Once you have a match then edit away.

Make sure you make a backup copy before editing just in case you miss some code. Then you can replace the backup copy and try again.

Get a decent text/html editor... like PSPad. It's free.

It has a function (like many decent editors) to search for a word or string in more than one file. E.g. in a whole directory, including subdirs.

That's how I found it: told the thing to search for a sentence from that contextual help in the whole "wordpress" folder of the latest download.

It lists all the files and line numbers in a few seconds.
