how do I put videos on a membership site without you tube

I am setting up a membership site, and I want to post exclusive videos for my members only, how do I do this, It wouldnt be fair to my paid members if everyone could just view the videos free.

If your membership site runs on static HTML, you can use this:

JW FLV Media Player | LongTail Video | Home of the JW Player

If you run your site on Wordpress, you can use one of many video embedding plug-ins (many of which are based upon the above).

As far as hosting them yourself, you need to think of your bandwidth usage doing this. If you have a number of videos and quite a few members, depending on your host, you may eat up a ton of bandwidth with just the videos. If you find you are doing that, talk with your host and see if you can arrange an increase (explain what you are doing.) Or if they are not cooperative, find somewhere to just host the videos ... perhaps use Amazon's S3 service for this (Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3))

That's a good idea, but for me personally it creates the perception that non members can access the same content. I'm a member of a site and they host their videos on Youtube, and I assume they have them setup to be private.

However, initially I felt a bit put out as it gave the strong impression that even non members could access the content (even though my impression was wrong, the perception will most likely be shared by others).

In my site I upload to Amazon S3 and then my programmer does some crazy tech stuff to hide the URL to the video in the page code, so that they can only be accessed inside the site.

Hi, just nice I'm looking to put video on my website.

Preferrably, the video will not autoplay unless visitor click on the Play button. Before that, it'll start to load in the background and is ready to play without pause when visitor happened to click Play.

Any such software around?

the best solution is to use dreamweaver and do an insert flash movie object. then if your server allows video streaming you can stream movies.

Also an alternative can be used - google videos...
