Article Marketing...I typically hate questions like this

As I said in the title, I typically hate questions like this, because the answers are already in the forum. I've read some interesting information, but was just hoping for a more unified answer to a quick question I had about article marketing.

Basically, once I write my article, what is the BEST way to monetize it?

EzineArticles is possibly the most common, but should I also submit to other article directories or would that violate some "duplicate content" rule?

Also, what about Isnare? Anyone have any experience? The price seems reasonable, but is it effective?

I guess I am just asking the steps some experienced article marketers take to make profits from their articles...if that makes sense.

And in case you are wondering, I am not ready to spend any money more than what say Isnare would cost. At least not yet...

Thank you so much for your help! You, my fellow warriors, are truly the best!

    Hi Derek

Um... I'm not sure I understand you, when you say "I guess I am just asking the steps some experienced article marketers take to make profits from their articles...if that makes sense."

Article marketing is basically writing articles as ADVERTISING.

You start with the product you want to promote, then write articles to promote the product, and make sales. Not the other way around.

If you want to write articles and get paid for it, create an offer for the WSO forum -- that works very well, because people are always looking for article writers. :-)

    Cheers

    Angela

P.S. I just reread your post, and I may have misunderstood completely. Apologies if I have.

      No worries.

I am writing articles promoting/advertising a product in my niche. Once I write the articles I submit them to EzineArticles.

My question is basically what ELSE, if anything, should i do?
Should I submit the same articles to other article sites, and if so, which ones? I also thought of doing basic things like posting all my articles on a Squidoo lens or something similar, but again, I just to want to squeeze the most profit out of each article you know.

        Now I get it. :-)

As OPs have suggested, use your content on your own Web properties FIRST, because you control them, and they increase in value over time. Big benefit: they're yours, so you can sell them later.

For example, let's say you're promoting several affiliate products in the weight loss niche. You've written 200 articles, and you're sick of it. So you sell your blog/ Web site, where you've posted your content in addition to sending it to EA and others. You sell it quickly for 10x what you make a month from it... (if you make $500 a month, you sell it for $5000).

Using your content YOURSELF is always your first priority. Other sites come and go, and you shouldn't put all your eggs in one basket. Who knows when a site will go belly up?

        Here's what I do:

        * I use my own content on my sites/ blogs and social bookmark it

        * I post some to EA and Idea Marketers

        * I've just started using some on Squidoo lenses

        * I occasionally post to other article directories, but usually I'm too busy creating new content to bother.

        Good luck. :-)

        Cheers

Thanks, I've never even heard of IdeaMarketers.

There is all kinds of thing you can do with it.

You can submit it to other directories (I'd rewrite it a little)
    social bookmark it
rewrite it a little and post it on a blog
take your author rss feed and submit it to rss aggregators
go answer some questions on Yahoo Answers with a link to the article
build a squidoo page from it
put a link to it froma squidoo page you already have built

These are just some of the things you can do without spending any money for things like Isnare

    Hope that helps a little

That is actually a great help.

What RSS aggregators do you recommend, or are they all they same?

Here's what I do with each and every article I create.

Step 1: Publish it on my own website/property first <-- this is essential, the content is YOURS.. do NOT give it to a directory first.

Step 2: Tweak it a little and publish it to Ezine Articles

Step 3: Tweak and expand, using each of the main points for a squidoo module on a lens and build a squidoo lens around it. (hence my hundreds of lenses that turn profit for me)

Step 4: Mass publish it wherever you like, use iSnare if you wish.. it's a good service..

This has served me well now for years, and I can't even write articles that well.

Anything you hear about "duplicate content" rules is complete crap in most cases. The ONLY time duplicate content is an issue is when you have duplicates on the same domain.. like two pages that are mirroring each other on one domain.

You can find up to date clarification of this fact on the official google blog here:

Official Google Webmaster Central Blog: Demystifying the "duplicate content penalty"

Hope this helps a little, I can't guarantee anything, but this is how I use my content and it works a treat

    Peace

Exactly what I was looking for...thanks!!

First, great advice about publishing to my domain first.

Second, this seems like an obvious question, but I am curious. What is the advantage of multiple Squidoo lenses, as opposed to a couple of really content rich ones? I was debating this issue in my mind and wonder what you think. In my ming, "richer" lenses might get ranked higher and receive more traffic. Then again, a multitude of smaller lenses might accomplish the same objective. Also, do you actively promote your lenses?

Lastly, that Google post on duplicate content will certainly help me sleep better tonight!!

      Take care!

        Hey thurr..

I think the benefits of large, content rich squidoo lenses, definitely out weight the benefits of many small ones..

        BUT

I like to "grow" squidoo lenses over a period of time. Starting with the base content from one article, they could easily become a large lens within weeks if I keep adding to them. As can be seen by Google's love of blogs, regularly updated content.. like a squidoo lens that grows over time.. is LOVED by the search engines.

If I am keeping a lens for my own promotion (as opposed to selling them) I will usually write some other articles and USFreeAds, and then use the second link in the article to link back to the squidoo lens for extra back links.

        Peace

          Thanks Jay...

One other question if you have time...

You said "If I am keeping a lens for my own promotion (as opposed to selling them) I will usually write some other articles and USFreeAds, and then use the second link in the article to link back to the squidoo lens for extra back links."

Since EzineArticles allows for two links, what is the best way to utilize them? Link to squidoo lens, link to blog, link to product sales page, or some other combination?

I try to put one link directly to a sales or squeeze page and then one to another property, either a squidoo lens/hubpage/free blog/weebly or my own blogs.

Any tips from anyone on exactly how much "tweaking" needs to be done when re-submitting articles?

Do you link your lenses and hubs to a sales page? What about the articles?
