Do any of you warriors doing Amazon review sites use the script from Amazon that links to the reviews that are on Amazon? I'm talking about the last script shown on the product links page. If you are doing your own review, is it overkill to also have this link? Is it a distraction from your own review?

Also, while I was mulling all of this over, I tried putting the script on one of my pages to see what it was like, but it didn't work for me. The instructions say to put it before the last body tag...but the html of my wordpress site doesn't show body tags. I tried adding them with the Amazon script, and nothing showed up. Any insights and help would be great.

Catherine, the best way to get click trough's to Amazon is to just use text links throughout your review.

For example. In the review I would put something like this. We found Amazon.com to have the best prices on XYZ product and you can also get free shipping. Click here to check it out.

Where it says click here just hyperlink to the Amazon product with your affiliate link.

This works much better than the banners and widgets.

    Hope that helps,

Okay, Jan, I'll take your word for it since if anyone knows what they're talking about it, it should be you.

But even so, with all the options out there on the internet with things to try, it can really get confusing.

As Jan says use the enticement of the reviews and pricing discounts to get them to click through to Amazon which is the main goal and it can be written in a quite enticing way where they are naturally prompted to click the link and get them onto Amazons site and let Amazon work for you.

Text links are the best way to accomplish this and in the many sites I have I dont have one widget or banner, its all about text links.

    kickin it on Amazon

Agreed. I have zero widgets or banners on any of my sites. 100% text links because the CTR is much higher with them and ultimately as affiliates our one and only goal is to get the click through to the vendor which in this case is Amazon.

      Cheers

Thanks for sharing your experience, Gaz. I've also had some success also with this approach, although I'm probably not as assertive as I should be about telling people to buy from Amazon.

Staying focused is an issue. If I have a few days with not much happening, I think it's because there's some technique I'm not doing, when actually I'm just not working hard enough.

  • Like the others said, text links work best.

But.. If you have an image of the product, you are promoting, in your post you should also add a link to that image and a caption.

Because some people like to click images, so why not make it an affiliate link?

As others have mentioned, text links really do work the best. Don't even use images because this may be counter-productive. Your job is to get your prospects onto Amazon, and their conversion system will handle the bulk of your sales. What I do to drive traffic is article marketing and emailing product reviews to subscribers.

Yep, no widgets, no banners and no done for you plugins.

Text links work best built into the review.

I agree with what's been said above -- banners and widgets don't work well for me. Many people say to link your images to Amazon, but I don't care for that much either. All of these get a high number of clicks, but low conversions (for me at least).

Something that works well for me is to create a box from CSS...a light blue, red, yellow, etc background with a darker color border, and placing my text link in that. "Compare this product at Amazon.com." You can also place an image in the box with a small description and/or CTA. Both of these work well....lower click through than banners, widgets, images, etc, but more sales/money made.

Thanks. I will try highlighting my links in this way as I never thought of that.

Hey, if you need help putting in the code send me a PM and I can help you. You can add the popup with price and buy now buttons to both text links and image links after you have put the code in. I use it on the image of the product that I put at the top of my reviews.
