I'm a few days away from launching my very first site and I've set my sights high, I've set up a system that leverages marketers social media following, at least the active portion of their following, I knw ot's often said that you shouldn't give anything away for free but considering no-one is likely to pay to advertise on a brand new site (even if the idea is very good), I'm looking to let marketers use it for free until I've built up a following and can then monetize it.

My question is, how to launch? I've been thinking about approaching a few of the bigger names in the industry and giving them first bite of the cherry to see how it works with their large following, a campaign should take very little time to set up and the pay off could be huge but without a working history, are they going to be interested?

Any suggestions?

  • It is very hard to get big names interested in something like that. They don't like to try untested sites, even for free (the time spent on that is actually costing them money, which they could be spending earning).

You might be better to try and get some low to mid level users of the site first, then try and attract the bigger names. If you're just looking to get business going, how about offering a WSO with free accounts (for a limited time, or until a limited number of users has been reached)?

This is your first site, so you're not in position to think about "launching" anything. At this point, simply get the thing out and start quietly driving traffic to it, start networking with other guys in your niche (important!), start building a list, split test what works and what doesn't, etc.

Forget about "The Launch". You're not yet at that point.

Agreed. It's like building a house - create the foundation first.
