Completely Bamboozled

Hi guys, how you all doing ?

I'm a student from Glasgow who has just finished University, and with the current job situation especially around here, I'm struggling to make an income. I've tried my hand in a few different books I've bought on IM, Money For Nothing is the one I've tried the most and had limited to no success. I like the idea of the book I just think I'm doing something wrong.

Basically, I'm pretty skint but I've got my legend of a father who's willing to help me with startup costs(to an acceptable level of course !), but it's getting to that point now where I need to start bringing in cash. I'm not bothered about making big big money anytime soon that's a long term goal, a few hundred a month would do me just fine to be honest !.

So I've got plenty of spare time, some basic knowledge on IM, and I'm fairly computer-savvy. But I'm totally frazzled by the entire market, there's just so many different ways to do this seemingly !.

Basically I need a good starting point, and the WF seemed like the perfect place to ask. Setting up a website is a possibility for me, I've only really done some E-Mail Marketing and a couple of Viral PDFs that never really took off, so I'm willing to try anything, even those same ideas again if I can get a decent reference and a little help.

I think I could make something out of this, but I don't have anybody to turn to until I found this place. There are no reference points out there, but you guys have been very helpful to plenty of people and I could really use the chance to get going - even if its only part-time income I need something.

If there's anybody willing to take on a lost soul please, help !

Cheers,
Adam

Just finished Uni so you must be able to write - offer your services on this forum as an article writer - the going rate is around $1 per 100 words, so not a fortune but a good start.

When you are not writing build some free pages on Squidoo/Hubpages/Blogger etc. reviewing and selling affiliate products - not clickbank stuff or ebooks but real physical products. You have 2-3 months to get as much as possible set up before the silly buying season starts for Christmas.

    Good luck mate!

      Ditto!

You posted as I did. And we both had the very same message to you. WRITE for an income as you appear to have very good written skills.

@Adam If you do decide to write, PM me as I might be looking for some product reviews. Not many at the moment, but some to get you going.

    Adam,

you sound like you have a great work ethic and are ready to get stuck in. Your English and writing skills seem to be very good as well.

I completely understand your situation with the unemployment and lack of real world jobs. So for quick money coming in and the possibility of making a great income, have you considered offering your writing skills to the online community?

Many hate writing and if you can write, are good at it and find you enjoy it, then you will make good money quickly.

Otherwise for a quick income look to any other services you can offer on other sites like Fiverr.com and Odesk as well as here within WF.

This is honestly one of your quickest ways to getting an income going. Then once you have some money coming in you can look to venture a little further.

    Chris

Jesus, I go for a shower and I get 3 replies - you guys are excellent !.

Yeah I like to write, used to do some articles for a Liverpool FC website, and I'd definitely be interested in that. Do I just leave a topic in the appropriate section ?.

This is good news. See I've nearly bought x amount of other books telling me I'll be pulling money out my ears, but I'm on limited funds and don't want to be running my dads card up with a load of nonsense.

As I said I've tried the Viral PDF thing and got a few guys to sign up under me, no real success yet though, and a few e-mail campaigns trying to get people to sign up under me as an affiliate to promote products but it just didn't seem to work.

I'm really ready to try anything now so long as I'm not running down more empty hallways.

    @Chris Can't PM anybody, says I need 50 posts .

    Cheers man.

Another thing I was made aware of early into my readings but never tried was setting up like Google Ads and pulling in a few quid that way, is it actually worthwhile ? Or is it difficult to actually turn it into money ?

I think it's important to be established in one area first before taking the next step. If you learn to write well, you'll learn secrets that will help your own writing. You'll then have ideas for blogs, and you can set them up while you work for others.

Just go step-by-step. too many newbies desperately try every course and system out there, and end up more confused than ever!

I think I went down that route mate !.

Right I'll do a thread for anyone wanting articles done, and I'll try signing up to Fiverr again(didn't work the first time, hmm).

Google Ads are pointless unless you have a site that gets visitors! There are 2 sides to Google Ads:
    1) Adsense - where you place Google Ads on your site and get paid when someone makes, what Google considers, a "valid" click on one of the ads.
    2) Adwords - this is where the Adsense ads come from. Publishers pay Google to advertise their product/service/website and get charged everytime someone clicks on their ad.

Adwords is a good way of losing a lot of money very quickly unless you know what you are doing.

As others have suggested, writing articles is a good place to start. Ask your dad to fund you for War Room membership and to place an ad in the Warriors For Hire section. This should get you started and if your articles are good it shouldn't be too long before you can repay your dad and move forward on your own.

Once you have a little cash you need to get your feet wet with your own site. Buy hosting (many here use hostgator.com) and a domain (again, many here use namecheap.com). Before you jump in and buy any old domain do a bit of research. What are you interested in? What do you know about?

It's always more effective to run a site that you are interested in and motivated by. Then start reading round this forum for all the ways to drive traffic to your site. Adding new content that you've written yourself will be a good way to get Google to notice your site. It's a learning curve, but I'm sure you'll learn fast. Just don't get tempted by the "earn $1111 in 2 days type ads".

Google Ads are a waste for all but (1) Google, and (2) people who -really- know what they are doing.

Everyone is suggesting to you that you can get paid to write, which is fine, but if you don't like to do that, then consider what else you can offer.

You've said you are reasonable at making websites. That's a valuable skill. How about graphics -- are you any good with Photoshop or Gimp, to make original graphics and/or create exciting ebook covers?

You can post at Fiverr, but keep in mind that with them you can you can only post $5 gigs, so it has to be something very quick you can do... and there are *thousands* of similar gigs, so it's hard to be seen.

Other sites like (plug) JobsForNine.com let you do be more creative about the complexity of your gigs, and how much you can get paid for them... The more places you can be found, the quicker people will hire you to do jobs for them!
