Website Valuation Advice Please...

Hi guys,

I need some advice...

I own a website - i have the ".net" -- yesterday i emailed the guy who owns the ".com" -- there is nothing on the .com site - it's just a page saying the domain is for sale - open to offers. Anyway, they wanted $150,000 for the domain!!!

This got me thinking - if they think JUST the domain is worth $150k - what would my FULL site be worth...

It's 6 years old.
PR5
Alexa: between 10,000 and 15,000.
It makes $9,500 a month -- 100% profit.
It's 100% auto - people link to the site, and use it without me doing any work.
It gets 5 million page views, 3 million uniques a month.
Most of the visitors are from the USA.
It's not an adult site.
It's No.1 in google for LOTS of terms.
It's got so much room for improvement.

I know this is really hard to guess without knowing the actual domain - but does anyone have any idea?

I'm hoping with such a high spec site - it would be worth more than the usual 11 months revenue. (Unless this is always the case - then i wouldnt even think about it.)

I'm hoping the guy selling his ".com" isnt deluded so i can list my site for a cool million and buy my new house. haha.

Thanks for reading guys.

I doubt that .com domain would worth $150k, but your .net site definitely would. :p
    Don't take this too serious.

The guy simply didn't want to tell, 150k is not reasonable for a domain only.

It should be worth WAY more than that, however if you ever tried to sell it on Flippa that might be all you'd get. Flippa's not a great place for selling high value sites.

There are better places for selling a proper business where you might get up to 24 - 36x monthly income. I don't know these places myself, but I know a few website brokers who often get prices like that for good sites.

The guy who wanted $150,000 for the domain was probably just chancing his arm. He can see that it would probably be worth alot to you, and some people would be willing to pay that much for a premium domain.

A good broker will give you a confidential valuation. The price depends on many different factors, that a broker will advise you on.

I have used Michael Koral, who is a broker at WeSellYourSite.com

They have lists of buyers waiting for the right site and usually move sites very quickly, if you decide to sell.

Let me know how you go.

Just because someone wants $150,000 for a domain does not mean that he will get it or that it's worth it.

I want $150,000 for all my domains. There's absolutely no way to tell you what yours is worth without seeing a website built on it. It's worth what someone will pay for it. If you build a site and get traffic and revenue, then it's worth a multiple of the revenue, and occasionally more if the domain is actually something to brag about (and very few are).
