How to Implement an OTO

Hi Everyone,

I'm getting ready to launch my first product and I'm trying to implement/configure an OTO, however I'm a bit confused.

I'm using E-junkie Shopping Cart for selling downloads & tangible goods for my shopping cart but it doesn't seem to have the functionality for an OTO.

However, I do know that nanacast has this option built in, but at $97 this is a little pricey for me, is there another way?

Matt

Why don't you simply add it to your "Thank you" page?

Then you can create a separate download page including the OTO product and the original product.

You can refer to the WSO by John S Rhodes for ideas.

      Adwords Mogul,

I can have a link on my thank you page but what I the work flow that I am after is to have users sent to the OTO page before being able to download the product which would have a shopping cart link as well as a "no thanks link, simply take me to my download" I've seen this many, many times but this is the first time I've tried to implement it.

Also what specific WSO were you referring to by John S Rhodes?

      Thanks,

      Matt

Never used ejunkie before so I can't advise on that. Like adwordsmogul said. Can you not put your OTO on the thank you page and either come copy or a video telling the customer about the OTO and have a buy now button for the OTO?

You have a couple of options here:

    1. You can offer the OTO BEFORE the person pays. So instead of sending them to the payment page you would then send them to a page where they can 'upgrade' their purchase. If they decide to go ahead with the upgrade then you send them to the payment page for the original product + the upgrade. If they say no to the upgrade then just send them to the payment page for the original product.

    2. You can offer the OTO AFTER they have paid. Instead of sending them to the thankyou/download page you would first send them to an additional offer page. If they want the additional product you then send them to a second payment page and after that they are taken to a download page where they can access both products. If they say no to the additional product then you just send them straight to the thankyou page for the original product.

There are much more streamlined ways of completing this process. The second option above is by far the best and will result in the best conversions. The problem with the way I have described the method above is the customer needs to enter their payment details twice which WILL have a negative effect on your conversions.

The best way to include a OTO is to use what's known as a '1 Click Upsell'. In this instance a customer pays for the original product and is then taken to a OTO page. If they decide to purchase that additional product they do NOT need to enter their payment details again. All they do is click the 'Add to Cart' button and that second product is automatically added to their original order.

There are numerous systems now setup to handle 1 Click Upsells. Here are just a few:

      Will,

Thanks very much for your response.

Option 2 is what I am after, its just figuring out how to configure it all and finding the right shopping cart solution.

For instance, I'm not sure if I can configure this with e-junkie's shopping cart, I think nanacast may be overkill and I'm not sure if DL guard is my solutions either.

      Anyway, thanks for your reply.

I'm still trying to figure this out.

      Matt

Does click bank have this automatically configured?
