Getting Consistent Opt-ins!

Hi Guys,

I've seen some success recently using banners on the Content Network. Now, I've had to be away from my computer a fair bit recently and have just come back to check my stats for each day, and the number of opt-ins isn't as steady as I was expecting. I'm getting consistent clicks, the problem is the number of opt-ins is varying massively. For example...

July 7th

1,233 Clicks - 0.30% CTR - Cost $257.86 = 147 opt ins [Roughly $1.75 per subscriber]

Where as yesterday...

July 25th

1,279 Clicks - 0.39% CTR - Cost $241.42 = 84 opt ins [Roughly $2.87 per subscriber]

Any ideas why this should vary so much? Any help would be massively appreciated!

Here are my stats for the period of 7th July right through to 25th July...

Is what you are offering on your list relevant to the website you are advertising on?

Play around with the offer and squeeze page or laser target to specific websites related to the list.

Yeah absolutely...I just don't understand why my opt ins would vary so much for the same offer. The banners only show on relevant sites.

Thing is, I have played around with the offer and squeeze page...then used my highest converting page, yet the number of opt-ins varies wildly.

      Any ideas?

Try putting the actual banner on the top of your squeeze page... don't make it take up more than about 10% of the page, and if you can't fit it all in, then at least put the exact wording of your banner on the top of the page and make it similar to your banner. This takes a lot of work, especially if you have 50 or more banners, because you'll need to create a squeeze page for each banner basically. I do this on about half of my banner ads on the content network. Sometimes it does the trick and my conversions are through the roof, and sometimes it doesn't really make a difference. It's worth a test...

The day of the week AND even the time of day can all play a role in your conversions. It all depends on your niche. It's something you need to test. If you run the campaign for a few weeks you should start to notice any big patterns and you can choose to turn certain days or time periods off. Even things like school or uni holidays can play a role in things if your target market are in that age group.

20 cents per click seems like a lot for a banner ad campaign on the content network. You should look at getting your CTR up by getting rid of those sites that are not converting well or have a low CTR. Try and advertise on those sites that have the banners above the fold as opposed to those below the fold.

Thanks Will, I've just gone through the placements report and deleted a ton of sites. Hopefully that'll improve things...I just wonder why it started off reasonably well, then opt-ins plummeted for the same landing page.

I thought that once you find a winning Ad + Landing Page + Offer, you'd just run with it and buy as many clicks as you can...obviously still testing as you go to try and improve it.

Do you think I'd need to create maybe 4 or 5 different landing pages and rotate them, so they're always fresh?

I hope that those subs are worth paying that much for.
