Physical Affiliates: Product Links - Open in new window?

I'm in the middle of building yet another site and something I'm still not 100% sure on is whether it's best to have your affiliate link go to Amazon in the current window, meaning the user leaves your site, or whether it's best to have a new window open when they click the link.

What are other peoples preferences?

What are the advantages/disadvantages of each?

Has anyone tested this?

The whole goal of an Amazon site, is to get them to click through to Amazon and if they do that then I have accomplished my goal and done my part, now its up to Amazon to do theirs.

I dont see any reason for them to continue to stay on my site at that point, so I dont open a new window for any of my sites I send them directly to Amazon.

        Kickin it on Amazon

It's better to have the Amazon page open in the current window. It makes a smoother transition from your site to Amazon.
