I see some crazy, crazy niches out there. Some things I have no clue how it was even possible for a person to think about creating a niche off of that subject.
Aside from personal interests, what methods do you use to find niches? I don't mean how to find the niche, I mean how do you come up with ideas for searching for niches?

This often happens by a complete accident. Just keep your eyes wide open.

        I either

-choose a niche what I know already/can learn about quickly

-look for ideas through the different categories in clickbank or amazon, and drill down where appropriate

Most of my ideas are either from browsing the Amazon store or simply watching television commercials. Most of us tune out commercials when they come on, but I have started paying attention to them recently for ideas. I don't usually look at the direct product, but try to think of relating products or services to what I'm watching.

One of my niches I saw in someone's yard while I was driving down the road. When I got home I did some research and found that I might want to pursue that niche.

I try to find my niches based on supply and demand. What do people want these days that I can supply. It can be marketing, seo, or tangible goods and services. If there is no demand for a product or service, likely the sales will be minimal.

If I can't make it trough keyword tool then I just try to think and gaze around what people really need and look at the forums on what niche some IM's succeed.

I mainly promote physical products through email marketing. I used to start searching for products based off my own interests, and then one day I curiously asked my girlfriend what she bought online... and it was like the pearly gates to marketing heaven opened.

Easily one of my favorite niches I ever got into was lingerie... easily!

You're going to fail. If you're afraid of failure then you do not belong in the Internet Marketing Business. Period.

One way to get into niche research of 'micro riches' is to check out popular magazines - if there's a magazine, the market is available for niches. Many ideas are inside the magazines!

That's a good point brought up. If you see an advertisement for a product that you can affiliate market, it's almost as if they indirectly have helped advertise for you!

I usually get my ideas while driving and listening to the radio and seeing stores and bumper stickers pass by.

    ebay popular products
    azamazon for physical goods

    click bank
google trends and google wonder wheel
    dummies.com
    magazines.com
    dmoz.com

These all have some good ideas. Once you find something that interests you, then it's time to find some keywords that aren't so competitive.

Go to the bookstore and look at magazines. Peruse Yahoo Answers, ehow.com and 43things.com There are a ton of places you can get ideas, just have to be aware!
