INTERNET MARKETING

You were smart to put that. I almost didn't buy because I didn't feel like waiting around for seven or eight hours for you to open up shop in the morning, just so I could download some internet marketing videos.

I'm thinking about trying this myself. Keep my sites open 24 hours a day, and see if business picks up.

  But the fact is, and this was discussed in a thread a few weeks ago, telling people they can download the stuff right away is actually really helpful.
  
  People don't want to wait to get their stuff, and unless you tell them they'll get it right away (even at 2am) how on earth are they supposed to know?

A problem that of course could be alleviated by using DL Guard.

DL Guard allows me to sleep easy at night, knowing that my WSO customers are downloading my product while I am dreaming of spending my profits (cue special music on harps)

I have to totally agree...

After all it's a feature-benefit that I think we all take for granted because of our exposure to this on a daily basis.

I also run an e-Ticketing website. It sells nothing but e-Tickets and we make this obvious ALL over the site.

Yes we also still get daily enquiries from customers asking us when their tickets are going to arrive in the post.

You can never presume that a customer knows something just because you think it's obvious, especially when it may be an order-winning feature.

I've found putting a comment like that near my order button actually increases sales, particularly in the non-IM niche.

You would be surprised how many times I've had emails from people who have bought digital products asking, "When will it be delivered?". Not everyone is net savvy and not everyone realises that digitially delivered goods are available here and now.

It can make the difference between making a sale and not!

I amazed how often people don't read anything: I have download links automatically sent to buyers by e-mail (as well as directing them to a download page after purchase confirmation). They (the e-mails) say, "Here's you download link for PRODUCT. Just click on the link...blah... blah... blah".

People often click reply and write back: "How or when will I get what I bought!?"... and quote my e-mail that says here's what you bought.

  ...because i've come across sites where you can't download, or access them at 2 A.M in the morning..granted, it was during my dialup days and i was running a bbs out of my bedroom and had to keep the phone line free so that my parents could use it

Reminds me of the line from the great comedian Steven Wright when he
went to a convenience store that he thought was open 24 hours
and it wasn't. He asked the clerk, "I thought you were open
24 hours" to which the clerk replied, "Yeah but not in a row."

A couple of years ago, there was a salesletter template software that made its rounds with the "even if it is 3:00 AM in the morning"
the default tag to appear in the closing.

The reason it worked so well, I think, is that in some places in the United States, there are actually times when alcohol can not be purchased according to the laws in the particular county.

This provided sweet vindication mixed with a tinge of revenge for those who couldn't get their alcohol
after 3:00 AM and had to wait until 6:00am for the opportunity to legally buy it again.

So if the person reading the letter was someone who had ever attempted to purchase alcohol outside of the legal time zone for buying it and been denied...

it made them feel extra assurred that the download really could be
obtained immediately while also injecting a nice shot of empathy for the pain endured when not being able to purchase.

Anyone else notice that or is that just some psychological aberration?

And before Thaddeus P. Hogg tells you that aberration is "a ration on beer"
to limit when it can be purchased or not,

it just means any deviation from the expected norm or pathway.

After all, why wouldn't I send someone a drink at 3:00 or anytime provided I was receiving an answer to my problem?

  Good point Tom, especially if you market to the "man in the street".
  
  Obviously some of us have never sold to customers who are basically illiterate when it comes to the Internet:
  
  - People who don't know what an ebook is and wait for you to snailmail a book to them.
  - People who would rather phone you in the morning than send an email
  - People who think you are great to give them info quickly via an autoresponder - they think you actually responded in person
