Anyone using Wishlist Member?

Hey guys,

On wishlist memner how is the registration page protected from being shared around freely?

Obviously you get taken there once payment is complete but what is stopping people from sharing that link?

thanks,

Rob

    Hey Rob,

I use it - awesome software.

Not overly technical but I think it works like this.

When you purchase the product it takes you through to a registration page and you set up a special "Instant notification URL" with the software so they have to go THROUGH the checkout system to be able to register.

So if i JUST sent you the registration link it would just bring up an error page it NEEDS that ping to the Wishlist server once payment is processed.

Word of warning - if you want upsells and you are using Clickbank they don't work with Wishlist.

What is this 'Instant Notification URL' ? As I understood it the registration pages are not protected. If you know the URL then you can go to that page and register.

So if you check in your WLM Membership Levels settings you'll see a URL something like this for each level's registration page

      w.w.w.mydomain.com/index.php?/register/FDes25

and if someone copies and pastes that URL they will be able to register.

I'd like to be wrong here as its a big weakness in WLM. Please let me know if I am

ok awesome, thanks Chris. So people can't access the registration link if they just send it around?

cool about the upsells too, will just use it for the main product and deliver upsells separately, that works fine doesn't it?

No, IF this did happen the link would not work and would just give the client an error.

Yes I think so - or you CAN offer upsells from the back end of your site in the members area.

      What doesn't work is:

Sales page > Order form > buy product > upsell 1 > Yes or no > product delivery

To my knowledge they HAVE to go through to the registration from after the first product ordered.

      Hope that makes sense?

damn so you can't really have upsells then?

That would be the usual funnel

    sales page > order form > upsell 1 > upsell 2 > product delivery

you're saying this isnt possible with wishlist member?

Nope, at least not with Clickbank I went through and through it with them.

However managed to get one of my coders to design me a very nice script that DOES allow this.

wow seems like an incomplete system if you cant have upsells as part of it.

You solved the problem? Can I get access to the script in anyway?

lol. reading this made me read up on it more. When I installed WLM (over a year ago) it didn't have full integration for 1 Shopping Cart which I use - and hence did not protect paid for membership registration pages.

But they do now (Aug 2011) fully integrate with 1SC and do protect the paid for reg pages. and I assume that is what you referred to Chris, e.g. IPN with PayPal?

BTW Rob I don't see why you can't use upsells (we do). Set the 'Thank You' page from your payment processor to Upsell-Page1, then on that page have links to Upsell-Page2 (which will be where the customer clicks 'no thanks' to Upsell1) etc

Wishlist now does protect the registration page directed to from the payment processor- you'll get an error if you try to go to it directly.

As for clickbank oneclick upsell funnels, doesnt work.
amember can do this though, as it allows you to put clickbank in front of the registration process, and will create a user account on the amember system when the payment is made- then add another paid product in the user account if an upsell is purchased.

        Hey David,

I was hoping you could briefly help me. My clients have a membership site and they want to ensure down the road the only people who have signed up through paypal have access to the Wishlist registration url.

I have tried and it's not protected. I have signed out of the wordpress admin panel and tried to go to our registration page and it opens.

The current flow is website > paypal > terms & conditions page > registration url.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

        Thanks
        Jordan
