How much to charge...ad to my list

I received a comment from someone on my blog asking if I sell solo ads to my list.

First off, do people contact you this way, or were they just trying to get a link?

Second, I only have a small list (less than 100 people). But they are very targeted for the niche. Is it wrong to sell someone an ad that will only be going to 100 people?

If the person still wants to do it, even with the small list, how much is a fair amount to charge?????? Thanks for the advice. I do not want to rip anyone off.

lots of solo ads are charged by the amount of clicks that generally occur from an email ad....Even if the list is only under 100, if it is very responsive to your ads... ie.. all 100 click every time an ad is placed, then its worth a lot more!

What is your approx. click rate?

Not wrong at all, as long as you are honest with the person and tell them about your stats. It would be wrong if you lied about your open rates, CTR etc, just to make money.

Just be straight up and honest about how many people you have.

As much as the person is willing to pay. One option is to let the other guy make an offer - tell him you are aiming to keep this exclusive, for the really good products / services that you are comfortable with; ask him to send you details of WHAT he wants to advertise, and what he's willing to offer.

Another option. Start high, and be willing to negotiate down. For example, quote an outrageous sum ($1,000? $100? What do you consider outrageous? - call out that you will do a special mailing, with custom written copy to focus on the offer he's making. And then say that you do have other lower cost options available, but you've focused on sending him the best offer...)

If he accepts the starting offer, good - you can always find someone on the Warforum who can write a special newsletter for you, if you can't do it yourself.

If he doesn't want the special offer, chances are he'll ask about alternatives; gives you an opening to ask him his budget, so that you can tailor make an offer...

I would be very wary because if you have a high quality loyal list are you going to upset them by offering something sub-standard?
