INTERNET MARKETING

Hey gang,

Is it possible to make a Wordpress post into a "sticky"?

I mean where it will stay at the top of all other posts on my
blog? If so, how do I do it?

Thanks for all you're help - I've put off learning WP for too
long, so now I'm diving in head first!

There might be a plug in available....do a google search and see what comes up......but the free, and more time consuming way would be to just keep changing the date on the post so it stays on top.

  You might consider using a static front page for your blog. I'd tell you how to do it but I don't have a handle WP 2.7 yet.

  Static front pages are cake.
  
  Make a new template page, lets call it "newhomepage.php" and at the top in the PHP comment area, change the template name to "New Homepage". If you have no clue what I am talking about, you can open archives.php and you should see this

  Then, in your newhomepage.php file add whatever you want to it since it will be your homepage.
  
  In WP, go to WRITE > PAGE. And give the page a title. Click PUBLISH.
  
  Then, go to SETTINGS > READING. In the first box, there is a bullet point with FRONT PAGE. Choose the dropdown and choose NEW HOMEPAGE. Click save.
  
  That should get you setup.
  
  And yes WP-STICKY is the one. Here is the latest and greatest: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-sticky/

  Markquinn is right, try wp sticky. It let's you number the order of your posts by category numbers.

WP 2.7 has the option to make a post "sticky" built right in. I am not sure if you are running that or not. If you are just go under "quick edit" and there is a checkbox.

I upgraded to WP 2.7 and don't see that option, what a pain. It used to be under Settings|Reading

It's supposed to be on the "Post edit" panel in 2.7.

Thanks for that tip in 2.7, I just tried it and it works perfectly.

When you look at all your posts and hover over them you will see quick edit and here you can make the post sticky.
