Probably stick with VP6 for now. It works well if you
do it properly. If you are a marketer you want to get
your message to the most people, right?

VP6 seems to me the most viable mass-market format
    for now.

      Hi Ron

Yes you're right 1 year is a long time in terms of technology, but I'm sticking with On2FlixPro for now. I have just upgraded (at no extra cost) to the latest version and it's as good as ever.

As On2FlixPro is basically the same engine as Adobe uses in their Flash encoder, I cannot see any reason to change.

I never liked QuickTime. And the current version of On2Flix is supposed to be superior to Sorrenson - but again they I believe Sorrenson's roots are deep in On2 anyway (i could be wrong on that).

I would recommend that you use FlixPro instead of Standard though. The Pro version gives you much greater control on your input settings. You don't have to use the presets and can play around to use the best settings for your expected target bandwidth.

I find that bandwidth is the single most crucial factor. We have all come to expect great graphics and great moving images due to increasing bandwidth availability, but the truth is that so many people connect on shared wireless connections these days, that the bandwidth is often really poor. So for any video that you embed you need a good idea of your target audience's expected bandwidth and encode for that (which is why I like the flexibility of more control over the encoder settings).

      Hope that helps.

      Kate

    You already have the best....

    Except for one one thing...

On2 flix standard only does 1 pass encoding. So you might consider upgrading to either Flix Pro or Sorenson Squeeze for flash pro.

Other than that Quicktime pro can encode h.264 mp4 video.

For flv the standard is still vp6.
For mp4 the standard is h.264
