Is it time to upgrade to a VPS hosting?

Hey Warriors,

I have a Clickbank product and it's been getting about 350-1,700 visitors a day. The site is built on the Wordpress platform with the OptimizePress theme; however, I am hosting this all on my BlueHost shared account as just an addon domain. (*the site is basically set up with OptimizePress automatically playing my sales video once someone visits the site. The video is also 14,000 kb and is also hosted on this shared account).

I've been getting throttled by Bluehost for my CPU usage (and based on what they say..this may be a good thing at times b/c I get my own server at times...or something like that??).

So anyway I've really got 3 options:

1) Keep running the site on my shared hosting plan

2) Upgrade to Bluehost's ProPackage (the pro plan allows normally 20-30% cpu usage as opposed to the standard 7%).

3) Upgrade to a VPS (bluehost does not offer this so I'd have to learn how to switch everything over)

What would you all recommend and why? It seems like the ProPackage may be a good middle ground but I'm not sure if it will provide me with everything I need or what the real performance difference would be between that and a VPS.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

That's not alot of visits for a shared hosting.

Of your options, you didnt list optimizing the current site. You're running Wordpress, install the W3 Total Cache and configure the Page, DB & Object Caches.

Thanks guys. How much traffic do you think I need before I should upgrade?

Also, I have 20 other add on sites on this shared hosting plan (they don't get as much traffic as my Clickbank product though). And Bluehost has throttled my CPU 5,327 seconds in the past 24 hours...is that bad enough to warrant an upgrade to their propackage?

Also, I already have W3 Total Cache installed (as well as wpminify) but don't have anything customized on it. What do I need to do to configure the Page, DB & Object Caches?

      Thanks

Another option: host your video on Amazon S3/Cloudfront and you can integrate it with W3 Total Cache.

How would I integrate the video with W3 Total Cache? Thanks

You can enable the CDN option under the General Settings and then specify your CDN options on the Content Delivery Network tab. There you can designate/create a bucket (i.e. folder) where you have uploaded your video. Point your video to that location.

Since you're on a shared server, test performance with and without the DB caching enabled to check performance.
