Amazon removing MMR ebooks from Kindle

As of the 29th Amazon has blocked hundreds if not thousands of Kindle publishing accounts.

The Bookshelf is blocked but the reports still work and the published ebooks are still live.

However they are removing the MMR ebooks! This is after they where published under the rules.

So I wonder who the 1 person will be that gets to have the 1 copy in the store? No doubt somone that just joined and the ebooks submitted 2 yrs ago are removed.

I kinda seen that one coming.. way to saturated, can't really blame them, plus the fact they really don't sell well in comparison to other niches.

Looks like they are cleaning up kindle marketplace from duplicate content, all sorts or junk and just a plain spam. Good move!

Good news! They should have done it earlier - kill all the PLR, PD, MMR garbage.

Let the authentic authors thrive! (and let the garbage die...)

      Agree 100%.

Amazon's Kindle Store is a unique opportunity for legitimate writers to bypass traditional publishing methods and get their work out to the public. The traditional stigma of self-publishing will soon be gone thanks to Amazon, CreateSpace, Smashwords and other wonderful services.

The last thing we need is having it polluted by a bunch of non-authors whose only interest is making a quick buck. By doing this Amazon will insure that Kindle readers always have an excellent user experience.

The sooner they get rid of the garbage the better it is for everyone!

I totally agree.. If you spam the system you deserve to be blocked.

I saw this coming months ago, Amazon's job is to provide their customers with a top notch buying experience... That won't and can't happen if you have hundreds or even thousands of people spamming their site with the same crap at various prices.

Look at it this way... This just clears the room for those of us who are willing to do it the right way and build a long lasting business on the concrete rather than one built on sand that last for just a few months.

Read the rules, then follow them AND take it a step further by helping Amazon to build their business and you'll thrive with nothing to worry about.

      Bravo Amazon

I suspect it will take a while to clear them all. I was on their site earlier and many are still on there.

I wonder... how are they deciding which are MMR? Are they doing a copyscape type thing or just getting rid of books where there are multiples with the same title? Either way, while this is a step in the right direction, people will still abuse it.

I'm very happy about this... not just because I spent a long time writing the books I have up for Kindle, but because when I buy a book for my Kindle, I don't want to end up buying two copies of the same book from different people.

Near as I can tell they are somehow comparing books and any with large chunks of text that are the exact same as a large chunk of text in another book are gettting the boot. One book gets to stay but I dont know if they pick the first one published or what.

It's great news that now the place wont be overrun with the same books and real books might get a chance to be seen and purchased.

That's great! What use is a book store that would feature the same book many times under different titles? Annoying for customers. And we haven't talked about the 'quality' of those books yet....

Many IMers just don't know how to use PLR properly. No wonder our industry has a bad reputation.

Ya... and the just end up giving PLR a bad name. PLR is associated with low quality, rehashed junk, when you can actually make some pretty good stuff with PLR provided you use it right. Rewriting, adding new information, with some work you can turn a PLR book or some articles into something really useful.

Yeah, probably a good thing and easy to see why it needs to happen. Imagine if they didn't do it what the marketplace would look like in six months... a year... two years.

This is a good move for Amazon. But can Amazon tell the original from the duplicates? I am afraid that originals be taken out too.

Hopefully this will make it easier to find what you're looking for without having to sort through repetitive and superfluous items.

Why would anyone ever create a Kindle book from PLR or MMR? If you are telling someone they get PLR or MMR rights to the book, that is one thing. People know what they are getting. But Kindle buyers are thinking they are getting good stuff. Not old rehashed and cheap crap.

There is a WSO which is showing people on how to create kindle books from PLR copies.

In fact, the buyers are subscribed to a number of webinars on that.

So, you will find a couple of hundred people doing that in Amazon.

Its exactly like clogging Google with the same stuff, until they get slammed.
