Hi guys,

Has anyone considered trying to do IM in China? With such a vast Market (over 450 million people online) it is an untapped gold mine. People still have the same wants and needs, and as the Internet develops over there and people become more savvy all the techniques we learn will still apply there.

Has anyone thought of trying this out?

I live in China (and work in the digital industry) and if there was enough interest I could pull together a WSO around some facts and figures of that Market and where to begin with SEO/social media here.

Millions of dollars are being spent online there, and the younger generations are very Internet savvy now... There's a pile of cash ready to be made for those who want it!

What are your thoughts on tapping this Market?

They love old, working cameras (but only certain kinds and that is my little secret). If you know what you are doing you can make good money if you are willing to ship to China. It's not easy however due mostly to language difficulties but everyone I've ever sold to in China has been extremely friendly and patient.

Luxury Brands are extremely popular in China, of course it's easy to buy knock offs... But its all about status , they want people to know ey spend huge amounts on things like bags, wallets and clothes so they want to buy real goods. Bzzarly the Chinese do not really trust stores in China which is why the wealthy come to Hong Kong to shop.

For example Millions of people in China smoke, like the west that is shifting - so quit smoking guides. Chinese love to gamble (Macau takes around $70 billion US a MONTH) so strategies for games would be popular.

With a bit of research there are loads of things that we sell online that would apply there.

As for language having things translated is not difficult, the real difficulty would be creating products that are culturally relevant.

you have to be computer savy to use computers in china because they don't allow twitter or other media outlets. I guess you can sell to those who are already online through proxys or am I wrong?

They have their own equivelants of Twitter, Facebook, eBay (which takes around 2% of all money spent online in China which is quite staggering considering the numbers), messenger, search engines etc... Social media and blogging is massive in China. It really is exploding at the moment.

How long have you been in China jeskola? How is your business doing in China?

What really is marketable in China? I mean, they have these numbers of goods and are produce in bulks. I am eager to try in China because of the large market but don't really know what could be marketable in the country. Can you provide us tips or just information regarding marketable products?
