Redirect domain to affiliate website - is it any good?

I once read an advice from someone on this forum about redirecting domain to affiliate website.

It sounds easier than setting up landing page or squeeze page. But some noobie questions come to mind...

  1. Is it any good?
  2. Will it be more effective than promoting direct affiliate link?
  3. What is the proper way to redirect it? Do I have to insert redirect script on my homepage? Or modify .htaccess? Or do something from cpanel?
  4. How to track it on google analytics? Because as far as I know, redirecting will only results in bounce rate.
  5. Since it only redirect, does it have any effect on SEO? I mean only the original website that appear on google but not my website?

    I like to use Pretty Links - WP Plugin to redirect using my domain (domain.com/afflink).

    If you are redirecting your domain to the affiliate link you will not get any organic seo traffic. Which makes it very hard to have any conversions. Google will not rank your domain since you are redirecting it to the affiliate site.

    so its best to put something up (web content) and then a link to your affiliate link using pretty links or something
