[ASK] After a website is sold

hello.. I'm learning website flipping right now, and I'm curious what to do after a website is sold? Do I transfer the domain first and then just give the website files and database backup to the buyer?

    You can transfer the domain first, or everything together.
    It's really just whatever you work out with the buyer, and what you had listed in your auction (I assume you are flipping these via auction).

    Whatever you do, make CERTAIN that payment is in hand BEFORE you transfer ANYTHING. If the purchase price is more than $500, I recommend using Escrow.com. I've used them for several years now, it's a great service, and protects both buyer and seller.

        Definitely do so. There are fees involved, but the peace of mind is worth it.

    Since many of my customers don't have a clue how to set it up, I normally get the cpanel login from them and install it for them. Saves a lot of headaches and problems. I can do it in less than 1/2 hr. Wrote up some instructions here for anyone who needs them.

      And that's true, a lot of buyers don't know how to transfer a site, setup, etc... so I do it for them.

      Here's another tip...and it may be good for other hosting companies too, but I know it works for Hostgator.

      If you've got a fairly complicated site (wordpress with many plug-ins, and custom theme, databases, etc...) that you don't want to spend the time and hassle with transferring over yourself, and your buyer signs up with HostGator, HostGator will transfer everything over to their server for free.
