Using SEO and Web Skills For Local Businesses? Can Someone Explain How To Do This?

So I'm sure lots of warriors received Travis Sago's email about
how to do this. Unfortunately I wasn't able to chime in on the
webinar.

Does anyone have a solid plan to gather small business clients
to contract with you for seo and maybe wordpress maintenance?

I was thinking to create a portfolio of what I have worked on
and ranked for, and show how I can do it for small businesses.

Anyone have any detailed plans already setup to do this successfully?

I'd be maintaining the blogs, facebooks, twitters, youtubes, etc.
plus the SEO.

Has anyone tried doing this?

And how much should I charge for monthly maintenance and updating?
Maybe $200/month? Setup charge?

This sounds very exciting and I know of like 10 small businesses without
any web presence at all!

    Hi,

I do some SEO for a local company, however my contact was easy to acquire as he is a friend. You need to start cold calling businesses and put forward the advantages of what you are offering, show then examples too which should interest them more.

If you are doing SEO and blog management, you should charge around $300-$400. I charge around $320 for SEO alone, however the bigger the company generally the more I would charge.

    Bloody hell :p

I guess it depends on the goals of the company and the amount of work they get out of you for their money. For what you charge I can only assume you do a good number of hours a day on each project/client.

Also what is the set up few you charge for?

Thanks MaverickUK for the reply, I was looking at local SEO companies and they were charging $400-500 monthly for maintenance of blogs, facebook pages, twitters, youtubes, etc.

Also, I'm hoping to target independent restaurants in my local metropolitan area
    [Local favorites of mine!]

Would you say the monthly charge range of $300-$400 is acceptable? Or perhaps a little lower?
