What is the Purpose of Submitting RSS Feeds?

I'm expanding my backlinking footprint and want to get more info on Submitting RSS Feeds! What is the purpose of Submitting RSS feeds?

I know it can be used to submit and get new content indexed quickly, but don't people also use it to build backlinks?

Everytime you publish on your blog, a link to your article appears on a bunch of other websites.

Plus there's loads of people who use RSS readers.

RSS is great. First time I submitted my feeds to RSS directories (lots of directories) my traffic grew by around 500% overnight.

So basically your saying it is used to index content! Seem like your traffic was produced by readers seeing the new content.

It doesn't sound like this is used for backlinks building!

I have enough rss feeds out there, that when I post a new article, it gets close to 20,000 - 25,000 instant backlinks.

Since I do a lot of interlinking with my articles, that link juice flows through the new article and into the older articles.

But then again, its taken me between 4 - 5 years to get all of that setup.

Ok so you are getting backlinks! Would it be possible to get an BRIEF explanation of how you do your stuff?

Mainly I look for forums that use a recent blog post feature.

            A few examples:

            v7n.com
            bloggeries.com
            survivalistboards.com
            netbuilders.org

Then become a member of the community. With every post you make in the forums, you get a link to your recent blog post.

Find a forum in your niche that uses a recent blog post feature, sign up and become a member of the community.

When an RSS directory links to your content..... that's a backlink.
