Sell product through Blogspot or Blogger?

7 replies
Hey -

I have an E-Book that I think I am going to go on a massive, 30 day promotional storm - FB, Youtube, Blogs, Twitter, etc. I feel pumped and motivated. I am going to write 1-2 blogs a day related to my subject.

If I only have a .blogspot/blogger based site, can I still generate sales for my E-Book? That's ultimately what I want to do - sell some copies of that. I have thought of a "Bonus" I can add on for an immdiate purchase, so, essentially, I'd be offering 2 products.

Thanks for your thoughts!

Jeremy

    Neither. Get your own domain, the investment will pay off if you DO go on to make sales.

    Would you really want to, when you can have your own self-hosted site to do that (even without spending a penny on it), which you own and control yourself? Anyone seriously entertaining the idea of doing this on a site Blogspot owns and controls need look no further than this thread and this thread and so many others like them.

        For commercial purposes, create a blogspot blog through your google account.

        There are two main ways ...

        (i) Use free hosting (there's very reliable, professional, secure, free hosting without any advertising on your site, available from companies like byethost.com ... there are others, too. You can safely have your own self-hosted Wordpress blog - or whatever else you want to set up - on those, and be in control);

        (ii) Use free-hosted site-builders at companies like Weebly, Blinkweb and Yola (they're good hosts, and secure ... the "downside", if it is a downside to you, is that you can't set up self-hosted Wordpress blogs with these. You have to use their own built-in site-builder, which comes free with the free hosting).

        Stay away from Blogspot/Blogger, Jeremy, if you're planning to monetize in any way. Read the threads linked to above, with all the regrets of the Warriors who have tried that and lost their sites as a result, and you'll see that it's very risky and entirely unnecessarily so, when it's all available free and safely elsewhere.

    just want to add that when in doubt you can always use a free .TK domain from dot.tk and free hosting from 000webhost (1.5 GB storage and Cpanel hosting)
