Hi Gang,

Is it true that Aweber increases your subscription once you have built a reasonable contact list.
Also is it true that you cannot transfer your list to another provider if you should want to change.
Would appreciate your comments

    Hi Geoff,

Let me see if I can answer your questions...

Aweber do increase their rates as your list grows. In theory, this is because you're using more of their bandwidth/space/resources. If you're building a responsive list, this shouldn't really worry you too much - I'd rather pay $200 a month for an uber-responsive list that generates me $1000s in revenue than $1 a month for dud list.

Transferring lists is always tricky - And it's actually more to do with the list provider at the OTHER end. Say you want to move to Get Response. How do GR know that your list are all double-opt in and not just a bunch of names and emails you scraped off the web? They may well want you to get people to opt in for THEIR list settings, and people hate having to opt in more than once!

I use Aweber. I really like them. I tried GR, didn't like them as much. Focus on list building, and when you start seeing the money come in you'll stop worrying about stuff like this!

    Yes to both.

AWeber, like most autoresponder providers, increases its monthly rate when your subscription count exceeds certain thresholds. The 19 dollar US per month is up to the 500 subscriber point.

And yes, like most reputable autoresponder services you cannot take your list to another provider, as this would allow you to enter subscribers without having them opt-in to your list first. AWeber does allow you to export your subscribers list, so the issue really isn't AWebers but rather it is the policy of most companies in the business. To do otherwise would risk violation of the CAN SPAM act.

Admittedly CAN SPAM is a US regulation, but even though you are in Australia you will likely have many American subscribers, and AWeber is a US company.

    Hope this helps..
