Huge Changes Coming To ClickBank?

Hello Fellow Warriors,

I just received an email from an IM company that I subscribe to and I thought I would share it with the board.
Of course I haven't officially confirmed any of this yet, but it's from a pretty reliable source.

If it's true, I think you'll understand after reading it, why I decided to share it.
Some of you may have already heard about it, so please feel free to comment.

Kevin

HUGE CHANGES COMING TO CLICKBANK

The FTC is continuing to shake up the Internet Marketing world. For those of you who thought that the
FTC was finished with making changes to Internet marketing... think again!

According to an FTC insider, Clickbank had received some initial inquiries regarding specific products from the consumer protection agency.

The guidelines mainly deal with testimonials and endorsements and could put a huge cramp in the marketing efforts of many of the" JV Partner" programs that are promoted at Clickbank, the Warrior Forum, along with Digital Point and many affiliate marketing websites.

The requirements that will have the biggest effect are:

- All videos must be pre-approved by Clickbank before being put up on a website.

- All "limited amount", "offer almost done" and "will be closing" type of opportunity messages will be banned.

- You will not be allowed to promote products that say they were once at a higher price, unless that is verified by Clickbank.

- Upsells will be limited on initial orders and must include a way to immediately opt out without having to view more of the promotion.

- Clickbank will not allow products to be promoted as being easy to use, or a one button solution.

- As seen on TV will be banned, unless there is documentation specifically that the product has been seen on television.

While most of us in the industry feel that these are positive requirements, many people point out that there will be delays to upcoming product launches. JV marketers will have to change their landing pages, as necessary and provide new content and new videos.

    Yeah,those changes have been made.

And it's not the FTC making changes now. Those rules have been in place for months now. It's just that they're asking clickbank to actually ENFORCE them now.

Either way I think it's a good thing.

The FTC is watching CB like a hawk. CB is still dumb as hell cause they are playing cat and mouse with the fed. The terrible thing is CB knows there's a good percentage of scam products being sold through their system and they turn a blind eye. Rather than protect consumers and self police they will wait til they get threatened, busted or the FTC comes down on the whole industry in general.

Personally I'm done with Clickbank. I walked away last month and I am retooling my business. I wont feed the machine that's chewing up the entire industry and bringing heat down on everyone, legit vendors included. If Product directories don't self police they get what they deserve.

Well, it's about time that they start clamping down on the one-click riches sales pages and also the upsells. If the front-end product is so powerful and groundbreaking, then why do we need 3 or 4 different upsells?

I absolutely love it! First Google attempted to clean up the crap online with Panda, and Ezine and other sites followed suit. And now Clickbank is finally getting in on it.

To me this is a reason to rejoice. It means that it's going to be more difficult for the average schmoe to promote products online that aren't worth crap.

And it will leave room for the high-quality products and services that will always inevitably rise to the top anyways.

This is a great thing and I applaud more changes from more platforms all across the web. It means that IM is finally becoming legitimate again and it means that the Internet and this forum may be cleaned up real soon.

I'm not pointing fingers or naming names, but there are a lot of people in IM who want nothing more than to make money online without doing any real work. They don't want to work in the real world and they don't want to work online. So they cheat and they rob and steal.

ClickBank and the FTC are merely protecting the rights of consumers, and of other marketers. Namely the marketers who are actually providing quality and who are working hard to make sure they always stay on top.

When someone from India can come in, hardly speaking English, and dominate over my website that is very well written, something is very, very wrong.

Sorry for the rant, but I'm very passionate about this. Bravo ClickBank. I look forward to these changes and many more.

Those who sell legit products the legit way will be OK. There's nothing wrong with using a bit of hype to make your product stand out from the crowd (let's face it, it's necessary when you're competing against thousands of other products) but the gimmicky 'only 4 left before we close' type statements will not be missed.

I think it's great. How many of us have been victims ourselves when we got started. Internet Marketing is a truly legit profession but most people don't even consider it unless theya're desperate because of its bad reputation. A clean up is surely good but what's even better is self cleaning.

Apart from the pre approved videos, I thought Clickbank already implemented most of these?
