Would Someone Be Kind Enough To Help Me Out With This Small WordPress Problem? Please...

Hey guys, I just created a new word press site. Anyway, It has already been indexed but when I look at the description of my site in google it says, "proudly powered by wordpress" You can see where this can be a problem. Anyway, when log on to the wordpress admin panel I don't see where I can change this.

Can someone help find where I can change this?

Also, there's a section on the side of the template I installed that can't seemingly be erased, at least I don't see the option in which I am able to do so. It is titled "META", and under it are log in, rss entries, comments rss, valid xhtml, and XFN.

I don't want these things there but i don't see how I can erase it.

If anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate the help.

You should be able to delete this line by editing the css file. If you PM me the the URL, or post it here, I can let you know where/how to do it.

For "powered by wordpress" you need to edit the footer
And for removing the META you need to edit the sidebar

When you log into the admin and go to the "appearance" section where you can select the theme/template you will also see where you can edit the template (editor).
Inside that section you will see a list of files that make up your entire template.
You don't want to edit the CSS file - you need to edit the Footer file for the wordpress info and the sidebar file for the meta section.

It would have helped if you posted the link so we could see what template you are using.
Also if you go to the widget section under appearance and add the widgets that you want, they will override whats showing on the sidebar currently. If the blog is the latest wordpress version and the theme/template is widget compatible.

    Hope that helps.

If your THEME file is not writable on your server, download the file to your machine, open up the footer.php file, remove the line that says powered by wordpress (and only remove the lines about the author of the theme if you are allowed to).

When you are done, re upload the file, and that will be removed.

It will still show up on wherever your website was indexed, the next time the spiders come to your site, they will pick it up, and might change.

It will take time for this to disappear.
