Question About Using IP/VPN For Paypal

Hey warriors,

I live in the U.S but recently been living abroad for a few months now and I have a U.S. Paypal account that I don't want to close down since I still have all of my U.S. bank accounts and my business entities are U.S. based.

Is there a VPN or Proxy that can be used with Paypal successfully? I logged in with a proxy from a company and immediately Paypal limited my account. Is there a way around this with more reliable VPN's or IP's?

Any other alternatives?

    I'm in the US and slipped up a couple of times and went to Paypal while on my VPN and it also made me verify my account on a couple instances and limited me on another.

    I'm not certain if its a matter of the VPN IPs being known IPs or if through the VPN communication they can detect you're coming in over VPN.

      If you have to use a proxy, try using cloakfish but choose a proxy in the state, or even better the city, where you signed up to paypal from. Also turn off autorotate.

      Keep track of the proxy you used also so that you can keep using the same one. Paypal may limit you the first time but after you verify you shouldn't have a problem.

      You could also search for VPN companies who have their datacenters located in the city where you signed up with paypal from and just always sign in from the VPN/ip. Again, they may limit you on your first login, but after verification, you'll be fine.

        I do not understand how you can give advice to use Cloakfish or any other proxy provider to access PayPal accounts.

        The owner (his nick is justone) of Cloakfish, SEO-Proxies, and Proxycollective has always given advice against this.
        The Cloakfish proxies are a selection (with private selection algorithm) from the Tor network. Whole nodes of the Tor network are blocked by PayPal, eBay and others, and cause immediate account limitation, even after just opening an account.

        There is only one thing that matters when connecting to PayPal:
        Use a clean and unabused IP address (high quality IP)

        This means the proxy has to be:
        * private
        * not regularly rotated
        * not previously used for abuse

        This also means:
        * Never use public proxies
        * Don't use Cloakfish/Tor for PayPal or similar anonymity services
        * Do not use shared proxies or private proxies that are regularly rotated
        * Do not use (most) commercial VPN providers

        If you ignore the rules you'll find yourself in limiting troubles.
        Of course some people that are in less legal stuff might not care about limitations, but if you value the money on your account and the account itself you should follow the above rules

        P.S.
        seo-proxies does provide hq IPs well suited for PayPal, check the for sale area. Others might also work for you.

    As the post above states, its all about using a good VPN from a company that really isn't all that popular. I set up several in the U.S. before I head back to China so that I can continue using my many eBay accounts. The most commercial VPN providers have probably had people use an IP before that engaged in some type of fraudulent activity on eBay/PayPal, with smaller companies it is less likely.

      That's why I want to leave StrongVPN as soon as possible.

      I can't send PM messages yet. Could you PM me the name of the less well known, but reliable, VPN providers you used?
      I've been looking around for the past 3 weeks, and trialled 3 with trial period, and 1 without. But they all had weird stuff going on with their IP numbers. Similar to the IP problems StrongVPN all of a sudden has.
      Make a OpenVPN connection to a Washington (DC) server and get a static IP which has a Geo location of South Lake Tahoe (CA), Hanover (PA), Atlanta (GA), at the same time. At their own home page (top left) it showed up as Atlanta.

      I live on and off in Dallas and Amsterdam (NL) and I had one of my PP accounts limited when I logged in from Amsterdam. (That was a mistake 2 years ago. When I was unaware of PP ways.)

        I think that a dedicated IP VPN should do the trick.it did with me. But a RDP with a dedicated ip is even better. pm me if you want suggestions about what services to use, i dont have that info here right now but i have searched and tried services to resolve this.

    After you verify you shouldn't have any issues. When I login to my account sometimes I have my vpn on and sometimes I do not and it's never been a problem after I verified my account.

    I just had this happen to me, I was on VPN in New York and my account got frozen. You can remote to your computer at home or your office and use your ISP that way to avoid this problem. When this problem happens, it'll give you a big headache and up your HBP!

    It checks both your initial ISP, IP address, and your provider. In my case, it's COX. If the IP is from an VPN from elsewhere, you will get your whole account frozen like happened to me. This is crazy and I think they are shooting themselves in the foot because there are alternative providers coming about everyday, Merchant, Inc., ejunkie, etc.

    Paypal's increasing paranoid about security. Worse, it took me an hour or more and another hour to fix it with Paypal and they have long wait lines because of their paranoid security. Once you get through the idiot voice and answer the computer's dumb questions, you might get a real person. It took me an hour and 3 tries!

    It's too inflexible for me. Now, I'm doing my purchases without their services. Like I said, they are shooting themselves in the foot and now the other foot, lol. I'm just keeping them for recurring purposes on a few provider vendors... ePro Computer Solutions, Inc. - ePro Computer Solutions Home Page bob@eprocs.com

      I've never had this issue with PayPal and I know quite a few people who are also always on VPN - they never experienced PayPal lockout. But I don't think any of them are switching between servers on a regular basis or are using an IP address location different from the one they signed up with.
