Paypal vs Clickbank for conversions?

I've been working on my first product in the IM niche and I've actually been having a blast tinkering with it trying to improve the metrics.

What I've got is my sales page with a video, a sales button, written copy and another sales button. The sales button is actually a prettylink so I can track the CTR on the 'buy buttons'

To make up for this extra page - I'm actually giving them a discount for the moment so I can tinker with the metrics and track them properly. So even after they click 'buy' it tells them they're getting it cheaper.

I know that doesn't make sense for the bottom line but it's the only way I know to track the CTR and it's temporary while I improve it and see what works.

So I set this up this morning and so far I've had 8 clicks on the 'buy' buttons but only one sale.

The buy buttons are clearly marked with a price, and both the video and copy is pretty clear on what they're getting. The call to action buttons also have paypal/credit card logos below them. And the price is actually in a h3 tag right above it.

So I'm pretty sure they know that button is for buying it - but when it takes them to a paypal payment screen... somethings going wrong.

I know every niche is different but I'm wondering if perhaps selling straight through paypal looks a little cheap? Might my conversions increase if I use something like Clickbank?

Any suggestions much appreciated.

I don't like buying stuff with clickbank soon as I see they are using it I click out and will never buy it..

So choose wisely I think other people do the same thing

Well I prefer to buy IM products through Clickbank because I know I'm getting good buyer protection, but this is a non-IM niche.

When I tried my luck with promoting clickbank products, I had get a lot of order form impressions (aka buy button clicks) but no order form conversions (actual sales). So don't make conclusions just now.

My advice would be to wait for some more time and get more traffic to your salespage. Sometimes, people would just click on order form button out of nothing. I know because I've one WSO with clearly marked out price but the button clicks convert at anywhere between 1/4 to 1/8 any given day.

    Hope that helps.

Well two more sales already but even more clicks on the buy button that didn't convert.

Thanks for the advice webfighter, I don't understand why people would hit the buy button when the price is clearly there but I may as well leave it with Paypal for a while then.

And I was planning to move to Clickbank at some point to allow affiliates, but I wanted to make sure the page would sell before putting in the $50.

Even at a higher price point it gets the same CTR on a buy button. I have to say i never thought my problem would be conversions after they're clicking 'buy'.
