Beginners toolkit suggestions

Hi,

I'm relatively new to internet marketing, but am really enjoying what I am finding out about it so far.

I'm really wanting to make a clean break from my normal job - that is technology - software architecture. I have a couple of things that I am cooking up - a company to do SEO work, and I have a couple of old domain names that I was intending to drive traffic to, and sell. They're probably not the best domain names to sell, since one was a company, and the other just a side project. I'd like to sell affiliate product on these for a time, then possibly sell at a later date. Not sure if that is a good idea or not?

I digress; I have been doing a lot of reading recently, and it seems that there are a number of products out there that could help me out. I have had a look at things like SEO Powersuite, and Market Samurai, and both of these products appear to be timesavers.
I'm wondering particularly if there are any products that you good people could recommend that are likely to give me a leg up, and allow me to start earning sooner rather than later? I know that there are no guarantees, but if there are products out there that have a high probablility of success, I'd love to know about them. I'm thinking that with the SEO side of things, article marketing, particularly submission is very time consuming - I know manual submission is generally best, as it manually rewritten. I saw something on here about linkvana, but that it might not be that effective. I have tried article marketing robot, wasn't overly impressed.

Also, if anyone has any ideas on how else I might try to make money quickly, that would really be helpful to me.

Thank you so much for your help!

Market Samurai is my best friend. It serves one purpose in particular for me....I size up my competition relative to the keywords I plan to use. Too much competition and I move on. I will not fight losing battles any more. Been there, done that too much!

If you're looking for a free alternative to market samurai then there's a program called 'traffic travis'. You can use it for keyword research, checking backlinks, looking at your competition etc.

It doesn't quite have the amount of features that market samurai has, but if you're just starting out it can be quite expensive to splash out on loads of software.

As far as article submission goes, there are quite a few programs that automate the process or you could outsource submission cheaply on sites such as fiverr.

My favorite for checking my ranking is rank tracker! Very professional tool and much more put together then market samurai. I own both, but I would go with SEO powersuite.

Though maybe you should be focusing on getting tools that can help start building links to your old domains/sites and check your ranking manually for now. Then get some cash coming in and reinvest.

    AMR
    Xrumer
    SenukeX
    Rank Tracker
    Scrapebox

Just a few in my tool kit that I like, just for seo purposes. You might want to hit the area that reviews products and services on this forum, to get more honest reviews about each product someone mentions.

I've been looking at Sick Submitter, it's cheaper than the other link building tools around and I don't want to spend to much right away.

You can also try Power Directory Submitter, it's a pretty useful tool for directory submissions.

I also use Market Samurai because it is useful for so many tasks, and it is regularly ans quickly updated when google decides to alter something. Why not have a look at the Samurai Dojo which has lots of videos you can look at before you make a purchase. Also Market Samurai still do a 14 day trial.

I actually did this one, as mentioned in the post. I thought it was okay, the search tools for content seemed pretty good, and how it ranked things was nice, but I didn't see the value of google external tool really, or not at this stage at least, in future, sure.

My issue then is, okay, I know the keyword suggestions to use, the SEO competition, and so on, now what? I still don't have links, so I don't have traffic, so on it's own, seems less than effective? If it did article spinning, and somehow helped with submission, I would have bought it already. Any other ideas? By the way, the videos did seem to be of a very high quality.
