Hey all,

I'm new to this. I just got a domain name with namecheap and hosting with hostgator. I need help setting up my nameservers and getting off of namecheap's parked page. Can someone tell me how to do this? I already know how to FTP and upload web pages, can someone tell me how to set it up so that when people go to my domain, they go to my squeeze page? Thanks!

Ben J.

You need to get your nameservers from your web hosting provider. Then set them on namecheap.

Heres a video on it I found on setting them in namecheaps interface. How to change the Nameservers (DNS) at NameCheap.com

You can find your HG name servers listed in the left sidebar after you login to cpanel. Then login to NC and from the menu select Domains>My Account>Manage Domains. Click on the domain name listed and then in the left side bar click on Domain Name Server Setup. Select Specify Custom DNS Servers and list your HG nameservers and make sure you save changes. It could take several hours for the changes to be propagated but it usually happens pretty quick.

    1. Go to your hostgator control panel and note your name servers (I think they are mentioned in the bottom left).
    2. Go to your namescheap control panel and look for the part about changing or editing your name servers and change them to the ones from step 1.
    3. Now go to your hostgator control panel and click on add domains to add this domain.
    That's it.
Just keep in mind that sometimes a DNS change can take upto a few days (it's happened to me) but mostly not so long.

    Hope that helps.
