Default Content is king?

Hello warriors, do you think content is king when you dealing with SEO? Or it's just a prince? I've read many ebook about SEO and most of them talk about link exchange.

Content is certainly king. There is no denying that. Good content automatically gets linked eventually with people sharing it all over the Internet.

There are other ways of linking obviously, but Internet exists for people to find information and the better information you provide, you will garner that much respect and trust. More truest = more sales.

Repeat.

These days I tend to think of content as being more like a prince - important, yes, but not the end all to it. User Experience is king these days, at least in my book. This is why Social Networking sites are so freaking popular - it's not the content, but rather the experience.

The interesting thing is that I also see this as a bit of getting back to the old days. Interactive sites are almost far more popular than content sites.

Content is king.

I know it's strange to hear that from the guy who is still selling link exchange tool and who recently opened free one way link building community.

But no matter how strange this may sound from my mouth - content is king and it is paramount kind of everything, because Internet is content.

Surely, without quality backlinks you will hardly see your site Google page 1, but even this seriously relates to content.

Don't forget that links are the weak side of Google, they know that everybody tries to get more links and get page 1. And that is why Google will always do the best to be careful about links.

But if you "wrap" these links into quality content (article or blog post), then you can be sure that Google will feel ok about this type of backlinks. Because you bribed Google with quality content.

That is why content is king, king and king. Remember that any time you are doing SEO and SEO safety + stability + success will always be with you.

If you don't have content, then what do you have? Information is what runs the Internet. Even on social sites people are sharing information and communicating.

For SEO purposes content is important, but so are other things like keywords and getting quality backlinks to your site.

But my point here is that they're interacting online, versus just looking at content. There are thousands of sites with no "Real" content so to speak, but offer something specific for the visitor to that makes them go viral.

Couple of examples of what I mean:

Web 2.0 and grudge free buttons generator!
:. ConvertICO.com - Convert .PNG format files to .ICO or .ICO format files to .PNG : Windows Vista compatible
TinyURL.com - shorten that long URL into a Tiny URL

And so on...where's the content? Check out their PR

I'm serious - this is going to be more important than just content. Think about it...imagine if you couldn't post in a forum - just read what the owner wanted you to read. Would you find that interesting? Not likely...

User experience, i.e.; the ability to interact in some meaningful way will almost always blow away content sites, hence my comment that content is princely, but not king.

Complete BS. Quality content is the most overhyped thing ever.

Anchor text and the title is primary.
Content is secondary.

In theory, i could rank for "make money online" with a blank page.

"Build it and they will come" only happens in a cheesy Kevin Costner movie.

Content will always be number one because it drives everything else and Goolgle are constantly revising their formulas to locate the best content. As they get more sophisticated that will not change...

Content is everything.

Boy! If you could prove that! Would make things a lot easier!

But let's say if there were 100 sites with no content but a lot of backlinks, 100 sites with great content but no backlinks and 100 sites with decent on page SEO, good content and strong links, what would Google prefer?

I think this solves the content & backlinks issue.

surely not, because part of the 'pro' of good content is that it will be linked to by others. such an experiment presupposes that this doesnt happen

I agree, but how long does it take? And I'm afraid this happens to only a select few.

Take care of the 3 things I mentioned in a not too competitive niche and your success rate will be very high.

in that instance i would suppose that the 'content' being provided is the framework for the user experience. the same could even be said for places like EZA that, whilst having plenty of content, it is the framework of what it is doing that brings in the people.

but i would argue such services are still content. it is what the website is providing. We are not nessercerily talking about written content, but what the website contains... as you say the user experience (which for me IS content)

That is what helps SEO and brings in the authority backlinks imo
