Except on flippa, I don't see this anywhere else. Why?

It seems like flippa is filled with websites which are only started few months ago but are getting 100K+ users monthly.

How is that possible? Somebody told me it is because of SEO - I don't buy that.

Other than flippa, I have never seen any website like that, but flippa is full of them.

What am I missing?

And almost in all cases, sellers have the same story as to why they are selling the website - they want to do something else.

If you can bring a new site to upto 100K+ users monthly level, why would you quit?

It just sounds too fishy. Somebody please tell me what's going on.

Thanks
#flippa

PPV traffic I'd assume. Look at the analytics if they have them up. I bet there would be a very low search traffic coming in. I read a post on it some where I'll try to find the link.

Actually in some cases, traffic is from search engines - with some impressive numbers (low bounce rate and higher page views per visit, etc).

I am surprised as to howcome there are so many sites with huge traffic but only 6 months old domains.

Traffic exchange programs also can do this, you know the one who advertise "get paid to surf" or programs similar like that.

You can circumvent trust issues, by looking at sites with verified Google analytics (verified by flippa) which will show you where the traffic comes from. A lot of the sellers make the comment "didnt install GA for XXX reason", some are genuine, but you can bet your bottom dollar a lot of them are not. I`ve bought 3 sites from there this year.

    That wasn't the question

Some are legit but many are not. You have to take a good look at the referring urls. I got burned by someone who was buying junk traffic to inflate the traffic stats. Always make sure you know where the traffic is coming from.
