clickbank not working correctly?

Hi,

I know some people a long time ago said something about 'clickbank' not paying/tracking people correctly, i.e., you had to make a "new" clickbank account every 15-20 days or so to make sure clickbank "tracked" your sales... is that still true? (I haven't done any clickbank promotion in a loooooong time).

I decided to try promoting some offers via clickbank (email list/10k), and the stats after 2 days i get are:

Hop Count | Order Form Impression | Order Form Submit Count
140 | 3 | 1
150 | 6 | 2

Based on the list size (about 10k opt-in), and the 'submit' count (which I am assuming actually means the user 'submitted' an order?) -- I should have at least "one" order showing up... yet nothing...

Am I reading the stats incorrectly, should have sales based on those numbers, or something else?

Thanks

  • Hi Alexa,

Thanks - I knew the actual order form impressions were pretty small, but thought based on the initial traffic that should be higher (just running a few test campaigns first, if successful would do more CB promotion). As well, wasn't sure if the stats (corresponding order form impressions to actual page views) was too low -- but if I understand you correctly -- you are saying that if I am getting stats in the 'first' place, then my CB account seems to be working perfectly fine?

    Thanks,

    John

    Hey all,

I'd like to comment on this. I've had two similar instances where changing accounts (to brand new accounts) has worked like charm.

My main account, which was getting a few hundred clicks a day and 3-4 sales a day, consistently, day after day, suddenly went to zero for about 5 days.

Understanding statistics, there is VERY LITTLE chance that this was due to coincidence. Around 1300 clicks, zero sales, and dozens of order form impressions - yet no sales. Something was up. I usually converted from the order forms at 15%.

I talked with Alexa Smith, and she recommend to switch my account to a brand new account. The next morning there were 3 sales so far. :-)

When in doubt, switch your account. To make it easy, forward and mask your hoplinks with a Godaddy account. Then you can easily switch all your links in a few minutes, rather than doing it manually. Hope this helps

This has to be right. There's no downside, and you can save a lot of money.

Absolutely right ... this is the easy and reliable way to do it, that keeps you in control of your business "when things go wrong". And with ClickBank, things have certainly been known to "go wrong".

If you do it through your own redirected domain-name, no hosting's needed. And it looks professional. And .info domains are only $1 each at GoDaddy.

This is yet another reason (as if anyone needed one! ) for not using those poxy, unreliable url shortening/masking services with which so many people have had (and will have) accidents.

Can anyone elaborate on the processes quoted above?

It sounds like something i need to understand.

You can register a domain-name (say a .info domain-name at GoDaddy for $1), and without hosting the domain anywhere, just redirect it from GoDaddy to your hoplink in such a way that the clickable link on your site to the vendor's sales page reads "yournewdomain.info" rather than being an obvious hoplink full of a string of coded letters/numbers and ending "hop.clickbank.net"; people clicking on it will get to your hoplink and they'll get your affiliate cookie on their computer, but what they'll see in their browser is the same as what they'll have seen when hovering their mouse over the link on your site, and that's "yournewdomain.info".

Note that doing this doesn't relieve you of the need to have an appropriate affiliate disclosure on your site, of course: it's not about concealing the financial incentivization underlying your recommendation of the product - it's simply about looking professional with it and not openly displaying a hoplink which itself looks "strange" and "off-putting" to many potential customers and will lose you some sales.

Using a masked domain-name in this way is far from being the only way of doing this: it's just one way (and it costs you $1 per product to do, of course, to register the domain-name for the purpose). But this is something one should do, one way or another. And anything's better (and safer, and wiser) than using tinyurl, bit.ly, goo.gl, budurl or any of those other silly, unnecessary url-shorteners.

I've purchased 2 of my Vendors programs through my own promotional Hoplink to test clickbank and so I understand the products better so I can sell them. Both of these should've netted me a commission and I got nothing from either purchase (2 totally different products). I've sent emails to clickbank, and they say be patient, they're working on the issue. Right now, I'm afraid to promote anything from them because they're not even recording my sales.Anyone know of an affiliate program that actually pays you for every sale? Am I going overboard to expect to be paid for my sales?

Did you see your affiliate-ID at the bottom of the order-page, in each case?

Have they actually acknowledged the facts, i.e. that you bought through your own affiliate-link and were not paid the commission?

A little more information would help to answer these questions. Nothing that's cookie-based is ever going to be 100% reliable. I understand your concern and hope you get a speedy and successful resolution. These things are troubling indeed.

Have you actually said that to them, expressly, and how did they respond? Sometimes, making them realise that they're actually losing business can speed them up a little or even improve their attitude ...

I have promoted click bank vendor item, use the hoplink to put on my website.

when I first started I emailed clickbank, they said who ever puts in the sale last gets the money. HUH???? what does that mean?

Should I do another clickbank ID name?

some people report they get paid every week from clickbank?
      How is that?
      Even they won't tell me....

HELP>>> this poor person, trying desperately to make some money on internet, thru affiliate marketing.

The problem is that without seeing everything you're doing, it's very difficult for anyone to advise you. It's easy for people to guess, perhaps, but that isn't helpful.

It means that "the most recent cookie gets the sale". Whichever affiliate's cookie is the most recent one on the customer's computer at the time he buys is the accredited affiliate.

This is unlikely to be helpful, I think, if you have no clicks. The difficulty may be connected with a lack of traffic or a lack of conversions on your own site, perhaps?

More get paid every two weeks, but it is possible to arrange to be paid each week, yes.

It may be that, just like those here, they would need a lot more information to be able to comment, I'm afraid.

Possibly people would comment on your website, if you give its URL. It might be somewhere to start from? At the moment, it isn't really possible for anyone to advise you.
