$$ daily sales - how i made it happen

I'd like to post some tips from the successful launch of my first product to give something back to the forum as i have learnt all i know here.

I'd also like to point out i did all of this without spending a penny/dime (apart from the hosting), proving to all the newbs out there that it is possible to suceed without spending a fortune.

A while ago i posted asking some advice on how to launch my first product. Well i am pleased to report that it has been up and running for about 2 weeks ago and to i'm glad to report that the sales have began come in regularly and now every time i see a new mail in my inbox i am half expecting it to be a new sale notification -nice surprise!!

What is even nicer is that eveything so far is all coming from natural search engine traffic and before I have spent too much time reworking my site for on page seo or off page seo or attracting affiliates.

I believe this product has the potential to be a true "passive income" - something we all hear a lot about but often can seem to be too good to be true.

Here are some tips i found crucia to my newfound sucess:

1. Niche

Finding the right niche was crucial i believe. After researching many niches that i thought would be good money makers I finally listened to the advice i have read here many time - created a product for a niche that is a true interest. I picked my hobby (non IM!) and wrote an information product for it, simple as that.

2. Create a quality product

Using my knowledge and some good research I was able to write what i believe is a great product packed with useful information that will truely help people in that niche.

3. Keyword Research

This need not take time but head over to seobook's keyword tool and check out search volumes then check compaetition levels in google. Start a spreadsheet with the following columns so you can keep track of it all and guage your progress:

Keyword
Daily Searches
Google Competition ""
Google position when first indexed
Google position now (to guage progress made!)

4. Optimise your product sales page for your keywords

(still work in progress for me)
Use your keywords in your heading and title tags. Don't over do it, just make sure you think about seo when you wirte your headings

5. Talk to your niche.

Join forums, post signature links, get on Yahoo answers, google your keywords and see what kind of sites they appear on, essentially, become part of your niches online community.

6. Be consistant

Take action every day, even if for only 10 minutes. A product launch from scratch can be daunting but split it out in a spreadsheet into minor tasks and pick them off one by one. You'll soon be ready for launch!

feel free to ask any questions. and thanks again to everyone who posts good info here.

        thanks ryanman.

here is the template i use for both my salespage and articles...

        - explain the problem/s of your potential customers
        - establish yourself as the authority on the subject
        - explain what they need to solve these problems
        - explain how your product gives them this

if you can do the abov in all your copy, and your product delivers what it promises then you are halfway there.

Yes, it's simply 10X easier for first timers to make good money in niches other then IM.

i think it is easy to not recognize you are what many consider a subject matter in certain things. i spent quite a while promoting affliate products i knew little about - sure i made some sales and cash along the way but not a sustainable business.

i considered my current niche a few times before taking the plunge but dismissed it on the grounds that 1. they would not be enough demand and 2. most people would know or be able to find what my potential product could give them

my email inbox is proof of how wrong i was.

we are all experts at something.....to make money just get out there and teach people what you already know!

    hi, i'm new too

i dont have my own product i'm promoting someone elses. can this approach that you have described still work. i just need something simple that i can follow

sure. where you are promoting your product or someone elses the objective is the same:

to get potential customers to the sales page in the mood to buy something to solve their problems. so long as the product is a good one and you presell them using the template above you will make sales.

When you did your keyword research - what level of search volume and competition did you find?
Did the keywords you optimized on initially perform as well as you expected?
    Thanks

i have a bunch of keyword phrases which only get search volumes of between 1 and 9 per day so i guess you could describe them as long tail. that said it is a small niche.

typically competition (searching for the kw term in quotes in google) shows between 100 and 20,000. I am already ranking 1-3 for some with competition of about 10,000.

yes - they have all been performing pretty much straight away as soon as indexed. my minor tweaks seem to have a very quick impact.

also for what it is worth the google toolbar pagerank is 3/10 and the site has nly been live for about 2 months.

i'd also advise any newbs out to to write a plan. when reading all the oinfo on these forums you get so mantygood ideas it is easy to forget them.

i wrote out a project plan split into various sections with basically everything i needed to do to avoid forgetting. example sections would be something like: site construction, design, content, marketing, on page seo, off page seo, analytics etc etc.

having a plan keeps you focussed, motivated and prevents my forgetfullness!

It is true that there is so much information in the forums, that it is best to write down the important ones.
