Is an opt in form on a Clickbank page, really a big no-no

Has anybody had any success with a Clickbank Product that has an opt in form?

The reason I ask this, is because I think i've found the perfect product for one of my Niche's but the only thing I don't like is it has an opt in form on the sales page.

I know it's preferable to sell a product without an opt in form, but how big a factor is it? I think the good parts of this product out-weigh the bad part (opt in form)

Interested to hear opinions.

Well what's your goal, to build a list or to sell a product? It's very hard to do extremely well with both at the same time.

Isn't the whole point of building a list to increase conversions so you can sell more products?

If you want affiliates, that's putting it rather mildly.

Why not just have both? A sales page with an opt-in to attract the 90% of affiliates who make 10% of the sales, and a sales page without an opt-in so as to be able to attract the 10% of affiliates who make 90% of the sales? As so many vendors do? Problem solved.

How big a factor is it to you, to be able to attract "most affiliate-referred sales"?

We had a very large discussion on this question, not so long ago. With a "poll" attached, and every possible point of view given an airing.

See for yourself: here it is.

But why make it an either/or question? Why not just offer both?

    Who's the "you"?

    The vendor, or the affiliate?

We have other things to sell, too, you know?

If my work, skills, time, effort, judgement and so on have generated the customer, why would I want him on your list rather than on mine?

It's not about whether the potential customer should be opted-in (obviously he should be, if he's willing to be). It's about by whom he should be opted in. If you want to opt him in to your list, then generate your own customers. Excuse my saying it very bluntly, but if you want me to generate them for you, then give me a sales-page without an opt-in, otherwise I'll promote someone else's product instead. And so will most serious affiliates. And here are all our reasons.

      The affiliate.

I've contacted the Vendor too see if he will provide me with a link that can send my affiliates directly to sales page.

If I was in another Niche, it would be a no-brainer. But because the Niche I'm in is so small, there a very few products to choose from (4 to be exact, YES REALLY) and 2 of which, suck.

Do you mean the "order page"? (Normal hoplinks send traffic to the "sales page").

Be aware that if you send your traffic directly to the order page, you won't normally be setting a cookie on your prospective customers' computers (not unless you find a way round that which ClickBank allows, anyway). So you'll be using ClickBank, but not using their cookie system, and you'll only get paid on the ones who buy at their first visit to the order page. Not many people do that.

My suggestion is that instead of sending traffic to the order page, you ask the vendor to provide an alternative sales page without an opt-in. I've asked this five times and it's been provided four times ...

Well, these can be good niches (I have some like this). I wish you good luck!

Well the affiliate link you are given from the Vendor on the CB Marketplace, sends you to his/her's squeeze page. It's literally just text and an opt in form.

However when you sign up, you are directed to the sales page (Which I like alot) but I can't seem to find an affiliate link to send you directly to this page. So hopefully the Vendor can sort something out, but I've had no reply so far. Sent the message about 3 or 4 days ago.

Test the sales page with the form, and then test a different product in the same niche without the form. See which one does better, and promote that one for good. It won't necessarily mean that optins on the sales page are especially good/bad, but it is a good way to test and see if the sales page you like does better than another one in the same niche.
