Requests for reviewers are flooding the JV and Make Money Online sections

The front page of the JV board has more than 20% of threads asking for reviews of upcoming WSOs. I have my viewing set to 50 and there are at least 14 requests out of that.

Now the Make Money Online section is starting to do the same thing, although not quite the flood of the JV section.

Did the rules change on this? Last I knew, neither board was appropriate for review requests.

Totally not okay. Same is the case with people PMing WSO creators.

I haven't been around much lately, but I'm pretty sure the rules are the same.

On a diff note Tina, Can I have a review copy please?

Just to clarify, it's not buyers asking for review copies. It is WSO creators trying to get a bunch of testimonials before launch.

The whole JV section lost me a long time ago when it turned into the ad swap swamp of bad mailing lists.

Those review requests are not really JVs as I think of them, but at least someone is getting a product for free in return for their opinion. Now if the testimonials start appearing as live backlinks in ads to reviewers websites that could be another issue.

Is it just me or do WSO sellers not realize that the WAR room is where to get pre WSO reviews/testimonials?

You give your product away to WAR room members and they post back saying how crappy your product is. LOL Well something like that, then you have a bunch of reviews to post on your wso post as soon as it goes live.

        WAR room = instareviews!

My understanding is that these requests should be in the War Room, and not in the various sub-forums.

Then again, I have yet to offer my product in the War Room to get reviews in advance of launch. To date, I have only sent products to people with whom I already have a relationship, through my connections with them on Skype.

I personally don't ask them for reviews either. I would prefer that if they want to review the product they can, but I am not going to specifically request that they do so. That is just my personal preference.

I get tons of people sending PM's asking me to "review their products", and most of those requests are from persons whom I had never heard of previously.

In the last two months, I only indicated a willingness to look at a product once. On first contact, I told him as I tell everyone, "If I look at your product, I won't promise a 'good review'. Good, bad or ugly, I will review your product as if I had purchased it."

The guy who had asked me to look at his product agreed to my terms, then he sent me the product via email and told me to "send my review to him for his approval, before posting it on his thread."

This homie don't play those kiddie games. So, I didn't even tell him what I thought of his product.

I don't know.... Someone whom I generally trust told me that...

I don't go the the War Room very often myself, because it struck me as that kind of place the couple of times I went there.

From what I hear others say, I am probably missing the big picture.

Paul Myers had stated in a previous post to put such requests in the review section here. I have not seen anything to contradict that to date which is why I was surprised to see so many of the requests being posted in the JV section.

We've been telling people to put their review requests in the JV Forum. It's definitely not the ideal place but there's really no good place for these things. They definitely do not belong in the War Room, and we don't want them in Product Reviews. They shouldn't be in Make Money Online; that section isn't supposed to be for limited-time offers like reviews generally are.

There was a proposal to start a separate section just for review requests, but there hasn't been approval from the top yet.

Okay, Ken - thanks for clarifying that. I wasn't aware that it had changed.

I do think a separate sub-section would be good, since people feel the need to post about it. It's really messy trying to wade through them all to find the real JV offers.

My feeling is that there is only one good place for it and that is in their WSO thread or outside of the forum.

I personally do not trust testimonials that are acquired before any sales have begun and discount them completely. If I'm actually going to rely on reviews, I wait to buy until I spot some real comments on the product after launch.

What's wrong with launching without reviews, giving away some review copies, which are leeches are always begging for anyway, or doing the two-tier pricing thing for reviews?

I actually launch always without testimonials and only add them to my site when they occur naturally. I don't give out review copies, but only mentioned it because so many people in many threads and said they just couldn't possibly launch without reviews.

I bought a WSO at the discount price in exchange for a review. The product was, as I expected, great. If it had not been, my review would have been that it was crap. They can only ask for a review ... not a good review.

I personally don't use either. I just sell and let my customers decide whether or not to leave a review, but you'll never convince the majority here that you can do that profitably.

And others wait for comments before making a purchase too. And the thread can go much slower for the seller - especially if the materials take several hours to look through.

By that time, your thread is on page 3 and you have missed the extra punch of your initial submission of being in the hot pages.

I know this is the thinking of most people. Just not me. I always get sales the first day, but I don't care if I don't "crash the server". I'm not in a rush and by the time I bump it from page three, there are real testimonials and sales pick up. I'm more in it for the long haul.

When I was just beginning to launch I thought that having reviews prior to launch was a great boost.

              But honestly,

If a program is good enough it's going to get reviews from buyers. Period.

              Even if it's long.

If it produces results and has been made in such a way that it is easy to implement then people will share their success on your thread.

At least that's been my experience in my launching WSO's so far.

I'm not sure a section JUST for review copies would or even should get approved. I think it would cut into the business of the WSO forum big time. Instead of people lurking around the WSO forum to see the newest offers being released, they would instead be camping out in the WSO review forum waiting to get their hands on free WSO's before they go live. It would quickly turn into the highest trafficed part of the forum - I would imagine.

I think it's simple. Totally scrap WSO review requests from ANY section of the forum. WSO sellers are then all 'in the same boat' and have only two options.

            1. Launch your WSO without any reviews and let them come in naturally.

            2. You are allowed to put a review request in your signature. Seriously, if someone has a WSO they are about to launch and are looking to giveaway 5-10 review copies, it's not going to take very long if they have a message in their signature saying so. Once again the more you post and add to the forum the more people who are going to see your signature and the quicker you will get those reviews. Another way to encourage further forum participation.

              Excellent points, Will.

I specially like option 2. If I was planning to release a WSO, I would definitely give out 5-10 review copies with NO requirement to post on the WSO thread.

The reviews can be sent to my email/PM inbox. All I would want is for the reviewers to be 100% honest and tell me straight up, with no sugar coating, what they really thought about the product and if they have any suggestions on how it could be improved or if it's lacking something.

Once the actual WSO goes live, just like Bill, I'd want the reviewers to post their thoughts on the thread ONLY if they feel like doing so. Not because I provided a review copy of my product.

A lot of people confuse a review copy with a free copy, and they feel that they "owe" the product creator a good testimonial.

I'll shamefully say, I was guilty of this when I first came to the Warrior Forum. I praised a few products, that looking back now, were simply rehashed garbage with a pretty ecover.

              Lesson learned since then.

You know it's funny that I don't get many request AT ALL, for WSO reviews.

But considering most people here know my feeling on "the majority" of WSO's (I didn't say ALL WSO's) could explain why I don't get many request.

I'm a little set back that they are even allowed at all. I thought it wasn't kosher in the WF to ask for reviews or to ask for a copy to review.

As far as wrong topics wrong thread - there's an earlier post on the Main Discussion that DP isn't doing well so watch for an influx from that direction. Seems like allowing members to feed on their own doesn't do the community very much good.

I had 0 monitization methods on the website, so I wasn't profiting in any way.

I just wanted feedback, since I was considering ditching the website.

Look at this way, if your product is crap (but you don't think so), do you want a handful of people to tell you that, or do you want everybody who actually paid for your product asking for refund?

Giving away review copies to get a honest review is reasonable. You really want to know if your product is good enough, but you don't want to make it FREE and give it to every John and Jane.

Also, for strategic reason, if your review is not favorable, you can considering delay the product launch date or even cancel it altogether. If you discover that fact after the launching, not only you'll lose sales, you'll also get a bad reputation for yourself. And that's bad for business.

We really need a subsection for beta testing / trade product for a honest review. Even I can find it useful when you try to involve into a new niche. A brutal honesty to answer "what should you do next?" can be very useful to set things right before your big day.

That's 1 main reason I even stopped looking at the WSO section since many months now
You do realize that your posts are visible to the rest of us, right? Because I see you posting in several WSOs just a month ago. Guess that section isn't TOO much of a turnoff to you, is it?

I'm not sure what brought on your rant but the thread is about where the proper place to ask for reviews would be on the forum. If you just want to rant about your views of WSO quality, perhaps you could start your own thread?

Actually, don't do that because I have noticed that the people seem to be tiring of the rants and the mods are deleting many of them now on sight. I can't blame them since almost all seem to be from people who buy far too many WSOs, yet don't follow through on any of them so they never get around to actually making money.

But just to toss my two cents into the ring, if you are finding yourself buying lots of WSOs that aren't helpful to YOU, then you either have poor judgment skills over your purchases or you're looking for that elusive fairy tale...the magic button.

DISCLAIMER: The "you" in the above paragraph refers to the impersonal, collective you and is not aimed at any specific individual, fictional or otherwise.
