Hi,

I purchased the exact match domain name RNAVirus.com, Transgenicplant.com some days ago for the sole purpose of flipping. I listed them as Premium name at go daddy and also listed them on Sedo.com. The first name has over 40k searches on Google and the second one has over 18k searches on Google. Despite of listing them at a very low price, i am strugglig to flip them. Can anybody help me?

Thanks,
Giddu

They seem like rather specialized terms that probably get a lot of academic research traffic that doesn't readily convert to money.

The NamePros forum has lots of experts and free appraisals too.

The names are cool but not a general preference by many people. If it is like makemoney[dot]com, then many will be interested. Sometimes when people buy the domain also might struggle for the content. Unless you do some door-to-door (approach seller directly) sales by doing some google search on the keywords of your domain and approach those websites owner and see if they are interested with your domain name.

RNA Virus has 1900 exact searches a month and transgenic plant has 880 exact searches a month. When the domains arent buyer domain either, they are valued very low.

Remember, use exact searches when finding out how many searches a term has.

    A few points:

    - RNA Virus gets 1900 exact match searches per month, and Transgenic plant gets 880. A far cry from your numbers.

    - Neither of those terms apply to business. People who search these terms don't have a credit card in hand wanting to buy something.

    - Neither of these terms have any sponsored ads when you conduct a search in Google. That means that nobody is bidding on these keywords, because they are worthless to advertisers.

The FIRST thing you must understand in flipping domains is that you need to research your prospect pool before you register a domain.

EDIT: looks like Traxior and I were replying with basically the same message at the same time

Actually, the names were purchased for academic purpose. It is not true that the domains which are of no business interest do not perform well. There are domains which merely serve academic purpose still has a lot of potential in the domain market. I can give you example for that. Also, i got the names in only few bucks only. Thanks for your explanation though.

It how depends on how you keep score. If you keep score with money then it won't do well. If you keep score with traffic or public service use then the score might be better.

My comments were strictly in reply to your statement "Despite of listing them at a very low price, i am struggling to flip them".

The reason you're struggling to flip them is: The target buyer for this type of domain will be extremely hard to find, the search volumes are nowhere near what you stated.

They may perform well for academic purposes, but they will not monetize well.

          Exact do mondo ...

To OP - If you want to flip it then you need to sell it directly to an enduser instead of waiting for a buyer to come to you. search the keywords and check sponsor ads for potential buyers. Look up who you think would be interested.
