How Do You Go About Time Management To Get The Most Out Of A Day?

As the thread title suggests - how do you go about managing your time?

I know this was (and still is sometimes) a HUGE problem for me.

You end up browsing the forums (how did I end up here! think my browser has been hijacked!).

Checking your email and payment accounts.

Looking at your existing websites traffic stats - this one is a HUGE one for me.

Generally not getting done what you said you would do at 11pm last night.

Here is how I get more out of my day:

* Close down email - only check this twice a day.

* Close down Clickbank account screen - or your MAIN payment processor so you don't keep on pressing the F5 (refresh) button.

* Write a list at the end of the day with things you need to get down the following day.

* Make sure you start the day with the TOP thing that you have been putting off.

* DO NOT move onto anything else until a task is done - this is a HUGE time waster and you end up with lots of "half done" guides, websites...

That is the main ones from me - give it a go and you will get more time out of your day - or not more time but definitely get more done.

What are your tips for time management?

Chris

I think this should be moved to the mind warrior section. If you really want to manage your time well. you have to plan your day the day before it happens.

Agreed, you definitely need a schedule set up for your daily & evening routine or else you're going to be running in circles. Setting a schedule means putting yourself on time limits & deadlines which will help cut down going into them Zombie Modes looking at your screen all day.

As soon as you prioritize & put a schedule to your everyday living you will find you have no time to check anything until the end of the day when you're shutting down.

Hope this Helped & Good Luck

I organize my days like this. Wake Up then i give myself about 40 minutes to eat shower etc, The night before i planned out 2 hour blocks. then 30 min Break. in the 2 hours block i turn my phone off dont read email no facebook etc just working on my project. I dont use fancy software just a plain notebloc. For this works the best because i am somebody that is distracted very easy.

    Have a great day,

Plan everything before it actually going to happen.
There is saying "A best friend might leave you, but a good plan always helps you"

Yes, I do this too - or rather split my day up just like I would when I was working for someone else.

      Find this really helps!

      Too true!

The plan is important, taking action beats the plan...

    Hey Mike,

    Awesome post!

I think you touch on an important point - that you can be "driven" and not have to take it too seriously.

I follow pretty much the same sort of scope - the major changes I made were focusing on what needs to be done FIRST as oppose to putting it off and that alone is a MAJOR factor in being able to set up a limited company this year!

I like the way you construct your day it comes across as:

"I know what I have to do and just do it!"

This is essential I believe and it stops you jumping around too much from different things.

Focus + 100% work ethic WHILE you are working can do wondrous things!

Thanks for the post - awesome stuff!

P.S Just noticed you are the guy/s behind GFX Writer! I made one of my first product graphics with that tool and it was my first big seller!

    Thanks for that too!

I don't have much time for IM so when I do, I try to work on important stuff immediately - I turn off distractions and I then try to get into working mode.

Sometimes I really have problems getting into the right mode, but when I do I can get a lot done and work for hours without noticing the time going.

I don't know much about psychology, but I've heard about something called Flow. That might be my "working mode"

So for me it's all about getting started, and for that I use a simple "to do" list as my homepage so it's the first thing I see when I open a new browser-window.

I don't even dare to think what would happen if I had WF as homepage

I've been trying to think of WHY I do everything.

-Why I'm spending time on the WF
    -Why I'm writing these articles
    -Why I'm mindmapping
    -Etc.

Also, take short breaks once an hour!

I know how you feel. Have been there, done that. 2 books that come to mind:

    1. Stephen Covey - First Things First
    2. The 4-Hour Workweek

The first will help you figure out what it is that is really important to your life. You should always build a business AFTER you choose what you want your life to look like and build the business to give you what you want. Unfortunately, too many IM's end up working their tails off and not having a life.

The second will show you step-by-step how to break free of your business, put it on autopilot and live.

During this process you are going to need to start handing responsibilities off to other people. I would suggest John Jonas's site How to Outsource to the Philippines - John Jonas Replace Myself - I use it and it has changed everything for me.

    Hope that helps

I personally use the pomodoro technique. As far as being efficient i make sure to use a lot of all-in-one tools and platforms. Bascially, websites where i can do multiple things at once instead of logging into multiple accounts.
