New Clickbank Promotional Guidelines

Has anyone seen the new Clickbank promotional guidelines?

They can be found here: NEW CLICKBANK PROMO GUIDELINES

From reading the guidelines this is what I found most interesting (and found on MANY current Clickbank products):

1. No more video testimonials from fake customers. However you can use video testimonials from actors as long as there is a disclaimer stating "Actor portraying real purchaser" or a video of the vendor telling their actual experience / story without a disclaimer.
2. No more false scarcity. For example "only 22 more copies available" unless there truely is only 22 more copies available.
3. No more false discounts. For example "Previously $199 but for today only you can get it for $47" unless it really did sell for $199 before.
4. Maximum of 3 upsells
5. No more "As seen on..." promo techniques. Note this is not a requirement but only if the FTC comes calling you have to prove it.

Vendors must be in compliance now (August 1st) and affiliate sites must be in compliance by August 31st.

Clickbank is great if you know what you're doing. But it is just a payment processor with affiliates, not a push button money factory. You sound like you need a good ol' fashion MMO product.

Yea the guidelines are in and yes I believe they are a good thing.

I think that's a good thing! Long overdue too. You can't make false claims anywhere else either, it was about time that Clickbank added this.

This means the end of all the push button software on clickbank (like 70% of recent clickbank launches and all the high gravity-thanks-to-my-buddies products)... no more strippers, no more surfers, no more marines, no more bums, no more russian, no more genius programmer, no more gazillionaires... life will become so boring now...

And also means that many scammy marketers will turn to Plimus to sell their crappy magic buttons.

Any idea on how they are going to enforce it?

Do the customers have to complain or do you think they will be visiting all the sites?

They are enforcing it NOW with new product submissions. See this thread.

I'm assuming they will start reviewing vendor sites next month. That is going to be a huge task though. I don't think they have said formally how they will. If I was a vendor selling a product on Clickbank I wouldn't want the FTC sending me a letter though if I was out of compliance.

      Good question.

I too am really curious about that.

I guess they've got a good plan for that since they've already announced new rules.

Anyways, it's probably their best decision they might had made.

I think the new regulations are fair for the consumers. Right now, all those techniques taught by many experts make the market rather unorganized and somewhat scammy.

I got scammed on there not long ago, complained and got an instant refund

I dont think that guy will be on there long because his ahem "product" was totally fake

however, I did learn awful lot from it AND I got my money back AND I went off and found loads of reviews of clickbank products

all turned out right in the end...

but the indignation I felt when I realised I had fallen for the old One Time Offer trick was immense.

That guy wants to be glad he never met me in person coz I am not
      called JudoRick for nothing
