Well they are essentially the same thing.

A domain is piece of internet property you "own" (read: rent) for a yearly fee. It is simply a name that you use to direct people to your site.

Your URL is your web address. Without your domain name a URL would show up like an IP address if I understand how things work correctly.

So basically you have your website URL, which is "192.123.234.439" (bad example), but you then use your domain name to "redirect" that to "domainname.com."

A Uniform Resource Locator, URL, or Web address, is a standardised address name layout for some resource (such as a document or image) on the Internet. It provides the address for locating information on the Internet.
The following example illustrates the difference between a URL and a domain name:
    URL: IANA — Example domains
    Domain name: example.com
    Subdomain: www
The domain name is made up of the domain + top level domain. eg.
    Domain: example
    Top level domain: com
So, in its simplest terms, the domain name is the overall web site identifier and the URL is the locator for a particular resource on the Internet. Most domain names point directly to an index file, so entering the domain name in the forum IANA — Example domains will take you to the index or base home file for that web site (eg. IANA — Example domains).

Everybody on here once didn't know the answer. A domain is what you buy so sex.com or makemoney.com. The url is the full address so Click.
Hope that helped. Dont click the link by the way

    Is this correct guys?
    Not really.
    A domain is example.com or example.net or example.org etc.

The URL (Uniform Resource Locator) or URI (Uniform Resource Identifier) is almost the same but it has the http:// protocol mark in front of it (HTTP = Hypertext Transfer Protocol)
